OVERVIEW POV The night was unnaturally quiet—too quiet. As if the forest itself sensed a wrongness creeping through its roots. The moon hung high, an eerie white globe placed onto a blackened sky. And deep in the forest, where their beaten path led to a clearing designated for their work, candles burned in blue flames, and herbs dried in thick bunches from wooden rafters.
