I hadn’t let go of my phone for two days.
Not for sleep. Not for a shower. Not even when my legs ached from pacing. Most of the time, the screen was dark, but I kept my phone close, thumb ready, heart racing. I worried that if I let go, Wolf would try to reach me and I’d miss it. I’d never gone this long without hearing from him. Even at the compound, when we weren’t supposed to talk, Wolf always managed to send a ‘Goodnight, Kitten. I miss you!’ text.
But now it’s been two days.
Two freaking days and still no call, no text.
Wolf, please text me back.
Wolf, I’m worried. I know you’re busy, but even just an emoji would let me know you’re okay.
