Chapter 55:
The hospital parking lot's got one light and it's flickering.
Ellis drives. Kael's in the front seat with a bandage on his head and a doctor's note in his pocket he's already ignoring. I'm in the back.
"Where?" Kael says.
"Off the county road. There's a logging trail about a mile past the creek bridge. Truck's about two hundred yards in." Ellis's hands are tight on the wheel. "Volunteer fire department got there first. They called it in as a vehicle fire. Then they found the bodies and they called me."
"How bad?"
"Bad."
Nobody says anything.
