My next visitor showed up three agonizingly endless hours later. By then, I’d started to worry that Lupe and Mrs. Sawyer might not have made it Celia’s house unscathed after all. Because surely if my pack mates knew what was going on, they would have found a way to spring me from the slammer long before this.
With that timeline in mind, I tensed up when the door opened, hoping that good cop and bad cop hadn’t returned to exacerbate my headache. Then I sighed in relief when I caught a whiff of werewolf. My second had come through for me after all.
