SHIRLEY POV Her Alpha brought in a breeder to take her place. She couldn't stand the fact that a breeder could actually bear children for her groom, whereas she's barren. She even left on the night of the ceremony. And now, to get back at the breeder, she murders her mother, Arabella, the Luna of the Crystal Moon Pack. That's all the whispers I hear about. Such gits about me. How could I have missed the fact that she was Evelyn's mother? I didn't murder her, by the way; it was Tristan's mistake. "She's not responding," a voice cuts in on me. My lowered gaze rose to view who was standing in front of me. Donald--- A member of Tremblay's council. I ignored his presence and rolled my eyes in disgust. Tremblay was standing there, hands folded on his chest, while he watched the council members interrogate me. There were five of them in the room, all elderly men. Amongst them was Rufus, who tried to cheat on his wife with me. Donald, who is homosexual and in love with my husband. Gerald, a former Alpha who was dethroned. Ronald, Megan, and Lucian. Them I know nothing about, and that pisses me off. I'm sure they all have a secret they conceal. It would have been a good idea to expose them now and free myself from these shackles. "Answer the question, Shirley!" Tremblay stormed at me. His eyes were burning red. His veins were visible and channeling themselves around his arms. He has already released his arms from being folded and stepped forward closer to where I was seated. The only time I've seen him put on this look was when he had a beef with his rival, the "Red Moon Pack." He really thinks I murdered her, doesn't he? Seven years together, and yet, he still doesn't know me. I sniffed with a darkened gaze at him. Heartbroken but trying to face reality. Tears clouded my eyes, but I didn't want to look weak, especially in the presence of Evelyn. "Was someone with you, Shirley?" Tremblay questioned gently this time around. "T--- I was going to call his name, but it would only make matters worse if I did so. I kept staring at him unbelievably while he stared back. "I didn't kill anyone, Tremblay." I decided to break the silence that lasted between us. "I know you didn't do it. Just tell me who did it." Tremblay beckoned. Hearing those words, he confessed, making my heart melt. At least he believes me. Should I go ahead and tell him the truth that it was his brother? That might probably compromise my relationship with him from last night. It's better if everything stays a secret; I'd rather go to prison for the wrong thing than have Tremblay believing that I cheated on him. "I don't know who killed her," I replied to his question and tried my best to look as innocent as ever. "You were up early," he suddenly brought that up. "Really! Is it a crime to wake up early now?" I replied rudely, like I was stirring up a fight between us. Tristan walked in. My eyes looked away from Tremblay to Tristan. "What's going on here?" He asked and looked surprised to see me in chains. Tremblay looked away from him and remained speechless. He and his brother have not been on good terms for a while now. Ever since Tristan tried to take over Tremblay's place as alpha of the Silver pack, Tremblay has seen him as less than a brother. "She murdered my mother," Evelyn spat. "What! No way she'd do that. She's a good woman," Tristan defended me. I really hope he can fix the mess he made, because it's really starting to turn into a dangerous pool. My mind deviated from the scene, and all I could think about was my grumbling stomach. "Death!" His words cut in above theirs. "What!" I muttered, confused. "I sentence her to death in the next three days," Tremblay stated further. I gulped, revealing my fear. It would have been unbelievable if he wasn't standing before me, but he was. "Tre—" she paused and looked at me. "My Lord," she referred to him. "Please don't do this," Evelyn begged on my behalf. "It's been decided. She has three days to reveal the actual killer, or else she dies in place," he spoke without emotion. Tears began rolling down my cheeks uncontrollably. I couldn't say a word. Broken is the best description of my heart in that state. All that flooded my mind at the moment were flashes of good times we shared together. His confession to me. He could give up the world for me. Those moments were all a lie. It's possible he only married me to bear him a child, a son precisely. Tristan pushed him backwards. "How can you do this to your wife?" He quarrelled. Tremblay was less bothered by anyone's words. The council also didn't fail to show their shock. I know they never liked me, but death wasn't what they could wish for me. I saw their darkened faces; they pity me. My wet eyes gave Tremblay a daring look. Tristan was dragged out of the room by soldiers, while two other soldiers came to take me. Evelyn sat on the floor to plead one more time. Her plea was for a different punishment other than death. While she pleaded, she suddenly had a belch, one that led to vomit. She held her stomach and yawned. Lucian, one of the council members, reached out to her and supported her. He looked in her dizzy eyes and felt her stomach. She patted his hands hurriedly and looked suspiciously at us. The belch came again, and she ran out immediately. Lucian bowed his head before the alpha and raised it again. "I'm sorry if this sounds disturbing, my lord, but the breeder is pregnant," he spoke with assurance. Lucian is a physician to the pack, so he sure knows what he's talking about. I tried to find a surprised look on Tremblay's face, but he was totally oblivious to that. Something is wrong. How can Evelyn be pregnant when Tremblay and she only had s*x yesterday? Unless--- I've been in the dark all along. Tremblay has been having affairs with Evelyn outside our marriage. I can't believe he'd do that to us. My chest was rising with fury; I maneuvered around the enclosed walls. I was locked in a cell as ordered by Tremblay. He didn't even believe me when I said I never murdered the woman. Does he even love me as he claims? I sat on the floor and curled into a ball after a while of walking around. My head rested on my knees. I was sad and felt betrayed. I have always been faithful to our marriage—five years of marriage now. Tears rolled out of my eyes, and I wiped them off immediately. I heard the sound of the gates jamming and turned to see who it was. Tristan--- My expectation was Tremblay—but I guess he wouldn't show up. Five years of marriage, and I'm discovering this now—Tremblay is only concerned about a child.
