chapter 12

Masha sat in her cell, she was tied up with a chain that was locked on irons surrounding the cell. She feels thirsty. Her throat is so dry. "But I have to do this for her, if I don't… then the king will give her a punishment that's more worse than this. Elsa will be so glad to see her being punished by her mate." She shook her head. "I can't let her succeed, she's so selfish." She leaned on the irons that were like a wall in the cell, her eyes moved around like she's in search of something. When she heard footsteps approaching the cell, she shut her eyes. She wouldn't want to set her eyes on the person coming to her. She's sure that none of the maids would take the risk of visiting her in the dungeon except Sephora. But, the king might hold her up. While she was deep in thought, a tiny… calm and familiar voice called out her name, but she turned deaf ear. "Masha…" the voice called her again, and then she let her eyes open to see that it's Sephora squatting beside the cell. She gripped her palm that was placed on the iron protector door. "You came over here, how did you do that?" She asked her. Sephora smiled at her. "How did you do yours when you visited me?" "Earl was the one at work that day, so she allowed me in without letting the others know about it." Masha replied. She sniffed. "The guards are asleep." "You made them doze off? The king will punish them if he finds them sleeping on duty." She widened her eyes trying to explain to Sephora. Sephora was shocked. Why would she think that she made them doze off? Anyways, she was shocked too when she saw them in that state. "I didn't do that? How can I?" Sephora's face twisted. Masha heaved a big sigh. "I'm shocked to see you saying that, they haven't for once slept when at work… only if they're on break and then at night." Sephora didn't mind responding to that again, she's already here and she will leave soon. "I got something for you to eat, and you have to be fast." She handed the plate of food and bottle of water to her. Masha first grabbed the water and almost emptied the bottle. She began eating the food so fast, because she knows the repercussion of the risk Sephora took. The king won't spare her if she's caught. "The Golden chain fell out of my cloth when I left inside, I was so shocked on how it got in there and you took the punishment of what you know nothing about." Sephora stated. Masha didn't say a word until she was done with the food. "I have to take the punishment because you've suffered a lot at the hands of your mate." Sephora hissed. "It's my fate, Masha. So don't be bothered because of it." "I'm supposed to be bothered because of you. Do you know the pains of passing through multiple punishments at a time?" She smiled and pushed the plates to her. "Ma'am Sephora, even the walls have ears, so we aren't supposed to be saying this here. All you have to do is to be careful with your so-called sister… .her stay in this palace is so destructive and disastrous to you personally." Sephora was being more baffled on all she was saying. That's not what she had expected to hear from her. "Let me understand what you mean Masha, what's my sister up to? Is she the one responsible for the disappearance of the golden chain?" Sephora asked curiously. Masha coughed slightly. "Be careful with Elsa, and don't let her take a place in the king's heart. Even if he rejected you, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be with him and have access in his life." Her eyes narrowed. She's getting something from the last narration she made. She had known Elsa as someone who hates to serve another person, why would she become a maid in the palace just when a new Alpha came on the throne? There's a lot to fight for… a lot to deal with. "You need to be leaving now before the guards get awake. Thank you for the food and water, you really saved my life." Masha appreciated her gripping her palm. Sephora kissed the back of her palm. "I should be thanking you most, I can just wait to see you out of here." She got on her feet and grabbed the empty plate and bottle. Masha watched her leave the dungeon, though it was dark from her back… and the light she had wasn't that bright, she was able to see her orange long gown that flew aside as she walked. She shut her eyes, everywhere was so dark. Since she has taken some food, then it's time to sleep off and take a rest. This isn't part of punishment to her any longer, it's a way of taking some rest after working in the palace all day. ***** While Sephora walked through the way with her dim light, she was so glad to notice that the guards were still asleep. "Don't get up until I leave my room." She thought and walked fast. She found herself in the kitchen, but the chef wasn't there, so she made use of that opportunity to wash the plate before leaving for her room. When she stepped her foot in her room, she was shocked to see her room tattered. All her clothes were scattered and her bed disorganized. Her eyes flew open. "Who the heck came into my room to do this?" She widened her eyes while staring at the room. She began packing her clothes together, after which she arranged her bed and so many other things that were scattered. "That person is so lucky that I didn't get him or her, or I would have taken the person to hell because of this." She muttered angrily. She pulled the chain out of her cloth and threw it under her bed. That place, she won't look for it when Masha is released. Her door was rapped open and Elsa walked in grimacing. "You're arranging the room? That's what you're alleged to do." She giggled at her. Sephora faced her. "I just hope you're not the one who did this, because I believe you have your own room." "I'd like to know what will be your action if it's me. Will you kill me or report me to the king? You know he won't give you a listening ear, rather you'll be locked up just like Masha." Elsa stated. She breathed heavily. "Now tell me what you're in search of in my room. I owe you?" "I have the right to step into your room anytime I wish to and you can't stop me." Elsa yelled at her. She licked her lips. "I see, but don't make that mistake again or you won't love my action towards you." "Miss thief, I just want to let you know that I'm aware of you stealing the chain and giving it to Masha because she was once your maid." She pouted her lips pacing round the room. "But the stupid Masha won't make use of her senses and stay away from you, knowing that you are a cursed bastard." Sephora smiled angrily. "I am not a bastard, neither I'm I cursed. Elsa, bite your tongue." "If you are not, then why did your mate reject you? Who is your father?" Elsa screeched. "He rejected me because his blood is still hot, when he calms down and comes back to his senses… then we'll reunite." Sephora remarked. Elsa felt bitter. She hates it when Sephora utters of being together with the Alpha king. "He will never accept you again." "Who then will be his Luna?" Sephora asked. "It's me… I'll take your place." Elsa replied. She broke out in laughter. "Keep dreaming, you know that it's not possible to get married to him, especially when he isn't your mate. You already found your mate, so go to him." "You won't force me to do that, Sephora. I belong here and I'll be here forever." She sputtered. Sephora got seated on her bed. "You've overstayed your welcome, Elsa. It's time you leave my room… and don't ever step your feet here." She laughed. "You're not the one to tell me what to do with you and everything that belongs to you. I'll leave when I wish to." "Liar…" Sephora was on her feet and moved to her. She grabbed her hand pushing her towards the door. "Leave me alone." Elsa screamed but she didn't hear that voice. She opened the door and pushed her out, then banged the door closed so hard. She got seated on her bed expecting to hear her render curses on her from the corridor, but she didn't hear her voice. "b***h…" She cursed her and laid on the bed. She was about to doze off when a knock came on the door and she got on her feet moving to unlock the door. "Who's that?" She asked. "It's Nykon." She opened the door to see him standing opposite her. "The king required for his lunch, and you should prepare it yourself." He announced. She smiled and frowned at the same time. "What do you mean? Do I look like a chef?" "That's his order." He replied and left her sight. She didn't get it. "How will I prepare his lunch when the chef is around?"
