Chapter 10 Clara was sitting on Elian’s balcony, a cool breeze skimming her skin as she stared into the city lights. His apartment was up high enough that he had a pretty decent view and he had tucked her out here with a warm blanket, a hot cup of cocoa laced with some liqueur and a small plate of cookies. He had insisted he clean up quickly on his own and had set her up out here with some light music playing in the background and now that the sun had set, twinkle lights decorated the balcony, setting a soft romantic mood. She couldn’t lie to herself; she was impressed with him. He had been a charming host thus far but his earlier revelation that his mother already knew about her and that he was under pressure to have a wife and a family had thrown her for a loop.
