I stared at my phone screen, my pulse quickening. Matthew had found something. I glanced around the office, making sure no one was paying attention. Then, with a deep breath, I unlocked my phone and read his message carefully. Matthew: I found all the information you need. We need to talk in person. Too risky to send over text. Meet me at our usual café at 7 PM. A knot of unease tightened in my stomach. If it was too risky to text, then whatever he had discovered had to be serious. I quickly typed back: I’ll be there.
