I watch Conrad walk out of the kitchen as my heart rings in my ears.
This was not supposed to happen, he was not supposed to fall in love with me.
He was not supposed to care, he was supposed to hate me and let me go.
I open my bag and retrieve my phone, I haven’t touched it since I went to Denmark but told Emily to forward the important stuff that are not from Conrad to me via email.
My voicemail box is full with messages from Conrad and my mother, I delete the ones from my mother because I’m seeing her anyway.
In attempt to delete’s Conrad’s message nexty I press play by accident.
“Hey Dans,” there is some ruffling in the back. “It’s the last day of the year and all I’ve been thinking about is you. I—I miss you and I hope you’re okay.” The tone clicks.
