Twelve Things
Two Secret Service agents guard a cramped dressing room. Shen covers the legal strategy with his brother.
None says, “Why did I have to become a Texan? What happened to the Twelfth amendment? They never even mentioned it.”
Shen says, “They argued the law was clear and unambiguous. A second cause of action muddies their argument. Justices would pick up on that. While we wait for the verdict, I’ll prepare the appeal.”
None says, “You kicked butt. You think we’re going to lose?”
“Me, or them, the loser will appeal. The legal steps aren’t over until the U.S. Supreme Court weighs in.”
“Thanks for getting a head start.”
“I didn’t do it for you.” Shen’s words linger in the air.
