“Vera!”
Claudia snapped her fingers in front of my face. I jolted back to reality, my mind still reeling from what I had just seen. My eyes locked onto hers. A moment ago… They were red. Crimson red. Was that normal for a werewolf?
“Are you okay?” she asked.
I instinctively took a step back. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
She tilted her head, unconvinced. I quickly picked up the phone and handed it out to her. “I just came by to give you this.”
She looked genuinely surprised. “Where did you find it?”
“At the library. You left it there,” I said.
Her eyes flickered to the phone, then back to me. “Thanks.”
I nodded, but my attention shifted toward the mirror behind her. Something had felt… off. I took a step to glance at it, but she suddenly stepped in my way.
