It was during the period that there was well felt acute water shortage and scarcity attributed to the Federal and State governments’ apathy to the basic needs of the masses and their uncompromising approach to the demands of the workers of water corporation which had led to the long explained industrial strike action that people went through hell to get a drinking water. The state government had accused the workers of inappropriate effort made towards revenue generation while the workers accused them of neglect, sack threat, lack of welfare packages and unimplemented disbursement of financial strength as contained in the year’s budget. Nothing was said of the water treating plant, which had not been in good condition for over nine months.
