Emma immediately pulled away from him, afraid she was getting too comfortable in his warmth. She cleared her throat. She should have left after she called Becca and found out she had left. That was the sensible thing to do. But she didn't and now, crazy ideas were visiting her head. She'd already danced with Matteo twice, spent most of the evening talking to him, and was now standing outside the wedding with him while the night air cooled her flushed skin. If she stayed any longer, she was going to get too comfortable. Too interested and she didn't want that. She'd come here to get over Derek. She wasn't supposed to leave with another man on her mind. She was torn between leaving him and spending the rest of the night with him. "I should probably go," she said, though she made no move to leave. She hoped he'd ask her not to. Matteo nodded. "I'll take you home." She looked at him. His expression was so calm that it irritated her a little. "Actually..." She glanced toward the wedding hall. "I'm hungry." "Yeah, I didn't see you eat anything at the party." He noted. Emma shrugged in agreement because she knew she had been too distressed to eat. "Where do you eat at this hour anyway?" She sputtered a sigh. "We could go to Luther." She blinked. Luther was one of the city's most exclusive five-star restaurants, famous for its private dining rooms, absurdly expensive menu, and the kind of clientele that didn't blink at four-figure dinner bills. Emma stared at him, thinking he was just trying to impress a woman he liked on his first time with her without knowing how expensive Luther was. "It's probably filled up right now," she said with a chuckle. "And we don't have a reservation."She thought she'd better save him the trouble since she wasn't planning to see him after tonight anyways. Matteo said nothing. He was already thinking of somewhere else they could go but before he could speak and suggest a new place, Emma glanced down at her dress and sighed. "Actually..." He looked at her. "Do you have something comfortable I could change into at your place?" His eyebrow rose and a teasing smile appeared on his lips. Emma immediately caught it. She rolled her eyes. She had been caught. She was sure he knew now that she wanted to f**k him. "I'm serious," she had to save face even if he knew. "This dress is so tight I can barely breathe." She pinched the fabric at her waist. "If I'm going to eat anything, I need to get out of this thing." His teasing expression softened, "Of course. Come," He took her hand and led her toward his car. It was a simple looking but expensive car, but Emma wouldn't know anyway, she wasn't really into cars. The moment Emma slid into the passenger seat, her heart started pounding. She looked through the windshield wondering if she was being hasty with her attraction towards Matteo. ‘What the hell am I doing?’ She asked herself in her thoughts. She'd just agreed to go to a man's home after meeting him tonight. A man she'd spent the evening flirting with, yes, but she didn't know him well enough to be going home with him. She swallowed. ‘f**k it. I'm going to have fun tonight,’ She shifted in her seat. ‘I haven't had s*x in a long time,’ Her gaze flicked toward Matteo as he got into the driver's seat and started the car. ‘And he's sexy; that's it. It's just lust and I don't like him beyond that.’ At least, that's what she was going to tell herself. Matteo leaned in close and she closed her eyes but he was just reaching for her seatbelt. He fastened her seat belt and smiled at her before looking at the road. Emma felt her face heat up as he started to drive. She glanced over at him, his eyes was on the road. Her eyes left his handsome face for his big, strong-looking arm steering the wheel skillfully. She bit her lips and looked back at the road, smiling to herself. It was going to be one good night. **** The car eventually slowed in front of a towering building whose glass exterior reflected the city lights. Emma looked up after he helped her out of the car. "Where are we?" "My place. You want to go somewhere else?" He asked. "No, this is fine." She followed him inside. The elevator didn't stop at a lobby floor. It went straight up. Emma pinned her eyes on the square screen atop the head of the elevator door as the numbers climbed. When the doors opened, she stepped out and stopped. The elevator had opened directly into his home. Her mouth parted. The penthouse was spacious. The view laid out before her was dark furnishings, warm lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The place was enormous without feeling crowded, expensive while minimalistic. A massive living room opened into a kitchen that looked barely used. Beyond it, glass doors led to a private terrace. Emma slowly turned around, still admiring the place when she almost slipped. Matteo caught her just in time. "You okay?" He asked, worried but Emma just looked at him without a response then back at the penthouse. Oh, f**k. He's rich. Not just comfortable. Rich. Suddenly, his suggestion of Luther made sense. He wasn't trying to impress her; he could actually afford to take her there. How much money did this man have? She stood back on her feet and fixed her hair a bit shyly. Matteo smiled. "Let me take that," He took her purse to keep. Emma continued looking around until the doorbell rang. Matteo walked over and opened the door. She saw a man wearing rectangular half-rim glasses hand him several paper bags. "Thank you, Drew." She heard him say before closing the door. Emma watched Matteo carry the bags into the kitchen. He placed them on the counter. She followed him, still looking around. "What's all that? Food?" He picked up one of the bags and handed it to her, "This is for you." "For me?" Emma blinked. She took it and opened it. Inside was a soft-looking night shirt and matching trousers. Her eyes widened. She looked at Matteo unpacking the food and then at the clothes. Then back at him. She wasn't so sure anymore that he knew she wanted to f**k him; that she came over here intending to f**k him and not actually eat. She exhaled slowly. "Where can I change?" She asked. His lips twitched, "This way." He led her toward his bedroom. The room was just as impressive as the rest of the penthouse, with dark furniture, soft lighting, and another enormous wall of windows. He opened a door. "The bathroom is there if you need it." Emma stepped inside,"Thanks." Matteo nodded and shut the door behind her. She rolled her eyes, wondering why he wasn't making a move yet. She changed quickly, folding her dress over one arm about to head out but she suddenly paused.
