"if the world was ending you'd come over
right?"
"plink, plink, plink, plink ",was the sound I heard before opening my eyes. I was in a hospital room and from the objects I was seeing I realized it was an ICU . I panicked, how did I get here? what happened? For how long have I been here? were questions that I could not answer at the moment, I was determined to answer them all. I tried raising my head and a sharp pain like a thorn had penetrated my skin .I groaned loud enough to wake the sleeping man beside me. He rubbed his eyes and kept staring at me then rubbing his eyes for almost three consecutive times not sure if he was seeing right.
"why am I here?" I asked
"and who are you"? I asked him because his clothes showed clearly he was not a medical staff member. I was looking at him with pain in my head while waiting for him to answer,
"Principia, I'm glad you're awake, we were so concerned about you, your aunty has been pretty worried these two weeks when you couldn't wake up" he said emotionally with tears filling his eyes.
"I don't understand you, who are you?,why am I here? and for Christ's sake why are you calling me Principia? can I get someone to explain to me what the hell is happening", I shouted. I wanted to get up the bed and go seek for answers myself because this man beside me was of no help.
"I'll go get the doctors, you stay right here " he said while leaving the room with a little door slam. I moved my eyes and spotted a familiar hand writing in a card next to flowers and dolls placed on the table near the bed I was on.
"Dear Peer,
I remember exactly how the world stood for a minute or so when I received the news about the accident you were involved, listing the deceased and injuries, with each day after, the statistics kept changing with increase of the deceased who died while in hospital. I would not stop crying and praying that you remain among the injured taken care of and do you know why because I knew the world would turn to be the hardest planet to support human existence without your presence.♥️
One week has passed since the accident happened, you have not opened your pretty eyes and I hope you keep being the strong girl I know and proud of. I have alot of things to tell you alot of gossips out here. Everybody is concerned about you, I've been receiving millions of wishes from friends who want nothing but wish for your eyes to open.
Stay strong girl as strong as the USA in this capitalist world. lol
with regards,
yours bsfrn,
Zoey."
I read. who am I? I asked myself countless times, why does it seem like I don't remember anything about myself. Five minutes into deep thoughts and the man who had just left returned with two female nurses and one man supposedly a doctor, something about their uniformed clothes spoke for themselves.
"How are you feeling sunshine?" the man I supposed was a doctor asked,
"my name is Doc Adrian" he said while pointing to the name tag placed on the left side of his huge white coat. "
"I'm having a sharp head pain and I'm thirsty, could you help me with a bottle of water?" The nurse helped me with a bottle of water of which I drank all of it to quench my thirst with only a single intake.
The doctor started examining me and touching some of my body parts whilst asking if I was experiencing any pain, I was just staring when everything was happening ,he did so for five to ten minutes then stopped.
"I will give you some pills and add another drip, this will help with headache and to add a strong immune" he said while smiling and preparing to exit the room. I remained silent until they had all left the room and that man whom I had seen after waking up returned after some few minutes.
"You will get better soon and we will take you home" he said while smiling at me. He looked very pale like somebody who did not get enough sleep for quite a while. And the way he talked to me was very cool it just showed he knew me quite well probably a family member. Guilty kept eating me up because I still couldn't remember him no matter how hard I tried, the only way I could satisfy my curiosity was by asking him.
"What happened I don't seem to remember a thing, not my name, yours also, how are we related, please help me remember", I said with waterly eyes before a tear drop. He looked at me then hugged and convinced me to take a nap and he will satisfy my curiosity after I wake
"you don't need to tire yourself with a bag full of questions on your mind, I promise to answer them all as soon as you wake up " he said, then gave me a kiss on the forehead and as soon as I closed my eyes I couldn't resist the sleepiness that my whole body demanded and I slept.
I don't remember for how long did I sleep but as soon as I woke up a bunch of eyes were looking at me a pair of the last man I had seen before taking a nap, a pair for the doctor who attended me previously, another pair for another new man who wore exactly like the doctor and another two pairs for two ladies I suppose nurses as they were moving removing tools from place to place and placing another.
"one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine ten eyes"i counted on my head and then they both gave me a smile before the new doctor said, "looks like my patient is feeling okay more than the word okay itself" with a wide smile that allowed me to see a gap tooth on the left side of his mouth, he was handsome and I was attracted yes attracted to him not sexually but he was just cute and his cuteness amazed me.
"I am okay" I replied then the previous doctor ordered the nurses to help me sit and they surely did and one offered me a pillow to lay my back on." thank you" I said and she gave me a smile accompanied by a head node. There's always something with the nurses and waitresses and waiters of many hospitals and restaurants let alone hotels I have visited my whole life even after the incident, their hospitality I bet that is why they are called hospitality industries. I noticed their looks turn formal predicting they were about to carry on with their official duties. I was quite this whole time waiting for the big moment to inquire who I really was.
Both of the doctors took their seats while that man I had seen ever since I first opened my eyes sat on the bed I was ,the moment felt very emotional and I felt myself shiver and I heard
"your concerned uncle has told me you don't seem to remember anything about yourself even how you ended here, and we are all here to explain that to you in a simplest way" in a very serious tone from one of the doctors.
