Chapter Nine

703 Words
Scarlett’s POV Glass shards hit the ground, blood spilled onto the wooden floor. His claws ran down her stomach. Gram screamed. Lui cried. The brown rouge wolf growled. Everything happened so fast, my body began to shake, my skin began to burn. In a matter of seconds I stood in front of this rouge. I have never fought in my life, but the adrenaline was pumping through my veins. My paws scratched the rugged floor, the rouge turned to stare at me, the left side of his lip curled upward. This bastard was smirking, he turned around and jumped out the broken window. My body jumped forward but some arms wrapped around my hips, they pushed me backwards and I hissed. I turned only to be staring at Tyler, his body was shaking with fear. "Are you stupid?" His eyes were staring into my eyes. I growled, my body shook as I tried to wiggle out of his grasp. Lui stood in the corner with tears running down his face. My eyes roamed the floor only to see Gram staring at the ceiling with an emotionless stare. Her shirt was soaked in blood, Tyler let go of me as I walked to her. I placed my snout in the palm of her hand, I nudged her but she didn't react. Lui walked closer to her corpse and sniffled, "Gram, it’s time to wake up." Tyler stared at the corpse with an emotionless stare, "I'll go call the cops, and we’ll report it as a wild animal attack." His legs wobbled as he walked to the phone, his hands shaking uncontrollably. My Fur began to disappear, I placed my hand over hers and sniffled, Lui grabbed a nearby sweater and placed it over my shoulders. The tears began running down my face, I cried onto Grams bright blue shirt. I could hear Tyler talking, but he seemed so distant. He wasn't talking to me, but I could tell he was looking my way. My ears picked up the loud noises of the police cars turning to our street. I wonder what they thought when they found a naked girl (only covered with a sweater) hugging an old lady covered in blood, two little boys standing in the corner crying, and the rug completely destroyed with claw marks. What happened after was a blur. The police took us in and interviewed us separately, but in the end, Grams murder was pushed aside as a wild animal attack. We stayed in the station for hours, waiting for a family member to come pick us up, we waited for someone who would never appear. Our sister was called after everything was settled. She agreed that she'd take us in until the social workers agreed to find someone that would adopt us. It's been one week since the incident, our social worker said she'd do anything to try and keep us together but the possibility with that was very low. Our only chance to stay together was if our sister would adopt us but that was out of the question. Cat hasn't talked to me since the incident but I know she's there, I could feel her sadness and guilt. Lui placed his head on my lap, "Do you think sister is going to like me?" My heart was racing so fast, "It doesn't matter, we're only going to stay with her for a while." The brown wooden bench outside the station was cold. The morning breeze hit us hard, it was about to rain. A blue car approached the front door of the station. It stopped once it was close to us. Our sister stepped outside her car, a small smile plastered on her pink lips. "Scarlett, Lui, Tyler it's been a very long time since I've seen you guys." Her voice wasn't rough, nor high pitched. It was soft and sweet. Lui grabbed my hand, it was so small and warm. Tyler just stared at her then at the man in the car. I stared at her trying to calm my emotions but my voice was gone. Lui squeezed his hand. This was going to be a very long day.
