The days following Tyler's return felt like an emotional rollercoaster for Emily. She had replayed their conversation about Sarah in her mind countless times, each time feeling the sting of betrayal mixed with lingering affection for Tyler. Jake’s expression shifted slightly, a hint of concern etched on his face. “And how did that go?”

“Not great, to be honest,” she admitted, fiddling with her coffee cup. “He seemed so… different. It was like he was more interested in her than me. I don’t know what to think.”

Jake reached across the table, placing his hand over hers. “You deserve someone who values you, Em. You shouldn’t have to compete for his attention.”

His touch sent a shiver down her spine, and for a moment, she forgot all about Tyler and the confusion swirling in her heart. “You’re right. I just feel so lost right now,” she confessed.

“Maybe it’s time to reevaluate what you really want,” he suggested gently. “You’ve been through a lot with Tyler. You shouldn’t feel obligated to be with him just because he’s back.”
