CHAPTER TWENTY After we left the housing addition, I cruised along behind the Escalade, and we headed south on the 405. I hung back, keeping five or six cars between us as a precaution, though there was no reason they would expect a tail. We drove east on the 101 and then back south on Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The Caddy turned off onto Wilshire. When we entered the parking garage on South Ogden next to the high-rise at 5900 Wilshire Boulevard, I had a feeling I knew where they were going. I’d visited the building before. I waited until the two thugs and the girl made it to the elevator and then hot-footed it to the stairs. When I heard the elevator arrive at ground level, I was already three steps from the bottom where I paused to allow the trio to exit the parking structure ahead of me.
