CHAPTER NINE Jaime Reyes called me Sunday morning at ten minutes of nine while I was in the shower. I’d put my phone on the bathroom sink. I stepped out, dried my hands, and picked it up. “I’m up at Hollywood Reservoir, on the access road to Mulholland Dam,” Reyes said. “You know it?” “I know where it is,” I said. “What’s up?” “A DB. I think you should come up here.” I had the empty feeling in my stomach again. “One of the Reid girls?” I said. “Looks like,” Reyes said. “s**t,” I said. “I was in the shower. I’ll be there as soon as I can.” “Sure,” Reyes said. “No rush. We’ll be here most of the day.” Freshly showered and wearing jeans and a Dodger blue polo shirt, I turned onto Lake Hollywood Drive and parked the car on the steep hill just north of the reservoir at nine-thirty.
