CHAPTER FORTY-TWO I met Sims for breakfast at Du-Par’s Restaurant and Bakery on West Third Street. “There was nothing closer?” I said when I sat down. “It was close for me,” Sims said. “I had to drop off some stuff downtown this morning with a prosecutor at the U. S. Attorney’s Office.” “Killing two birds with one stone,” I said. “You got it,” Sims said. “I’ve always liked breakfast at Du-Par’s,” I said. “We got something to talk about, or have you just been missing me?” “Good to stay in touch,” Sims said. “The omelets here are fabulous.” The server brought us coffee, and I ordered the Du-Par’s legendary buttermilk hotcakes with maple syrup.
