A Dangerous Secret

299 Words
The city lights flickered against the rain-slicked streets as Serena sat by her bedroom window, sketching absentmindedly. But no matter how hard she tried to focus, her thoughts kept drifting back to him—the stranger with piercing blue eyes. Why did he feel so familiar? With a sigh, she flipped through her old sketches. The same face appeared over and over again. She had been drawing him long before they even met. “What does this mean?” she whispered to herself. Her past had always been a mystery. She was adopted at a young age, her birth parents unknown. Was it possible that this man was somehow connected to the life she had forgotten? Meanwhile… At the De Luca estate, Damian leaned against his desk, reading through Serena’s file again. “She doesn’t know,” Enzo said, watching him carefully. “She has no idea who she really is.” Damian smirked. “That makes this even more interesting.” He should have been thinking strategically. She was the missing daughter of his greatest enemy—an advantage he could use against Alessandro Callisto. But there was something about her that made it difficult to see her as just a pawn. He remembered the fire in her eyes when she stood up to him. The way she looked at him—not with fear, not with admiration, but with defiance. “She’s off-limits, Damian,” Enzo warned. Damian chuckled darkly. “You know me better than that.” “She’s not like the others. If you get involved, this won’t end well.” Damian downed the rest of his whiskey. “Then it’s a good thing I don’t believe in happy endings.” Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that this girl was going to change everything.
