CHAPTER 32: Hell Unleashed

1116 Words
The mountains broke beneath Lucifer’s rage. Darkness erupted outward from him violently, consuming snow and storm alike until the entire frozen pass trembled beneath overwhelming power. The war beasts froze. The demons hesitated. Even Azrath’s expression shifted slightly. Because this— This was no longer controlled fury. This was the true King of Hell unleashed. Black shadows tore through the mountainside like living destruction. Ice shattered instantly while the sky itself darkened unnaturally above them. Lucifer stood at the center of it all bleeding black against the snow. Terrifying. Beautiful. Furious beyond reason. And Heaven realized with a racing heart— He meant every word. I’d choose her. The mate bond pulsed wildly. Lucifer felt it immediately. But unlike before— He did not retreat from it this time. Azrath slowly smiled again despite the chaos surrounding them. “There you are.” Lucifer moved instantly. The frozen ground exploded beneath him as he crossed the distance between them faster than lightning. Azrath barely blocked the attack. The impact alone sent shockwaves ripping across the mountain pass. Several demons were thrown violently from the cliffs. War beasts roared in panic. Lucifer attacked again. And again. No restraint. No hesitation. Only annihilation. Shadows ripped through the storm like monstrous wings while Azrath struggled beneath the sheer brutality of Lucifer’s assault. “You would destroy yourself for her?” Azrath snarled while blocking another devastating strike. Lucifer’s crimson eyes burned brighter. “Yes.” Darkness exploded outward once more. Azrath crashed through solid stone beneath the force of it. The mountain shook violently. Snow avalanched down distant cliffs. Cassian stared in horror. “He’s tearing the entire pass apart.” Father Orion’s expression tightened. “The corruption is feeding on his rage.” Heaven looked sharply toward Lucifer again. And realized the priest was right. Black veins had spread farther across Lucifer’s neck now. The wound in his side bled heavily. Every use of power made it worse. But Lucifer no longer cared. Another war beast charged toward him from behind. Lucifer didn’t even turn. Shadows erupted upward and ripped the creature apart instantly. Blood stained the snow black. The remaining beasts began retreating nervously. Fear spread through the demon army. Because the Devil looked unstoppable again. Azrath slowly rose from the shattered ice while wiping blood from his mouth. “You always had one flaw.” Lucifer approached through the storm silently. “You mistake obsession for strength.” Azrath laughed darkly. “And you mistake loneliness for power.” The words struck harder than any attack. Lucifer’s expression sharpened dangerously. Because part of him knew Azrath wasn’t entirely wrong. He had ruled through fear because fear kept distance. Distance prevented loss. Distance prevented weakness. Then Heaven appeared. And suddenly the Devil found himself willing to destroy worlds just to keep one girl breathing. Azrath noticed the hesitation instantly. “There.” He pointed mockingly. “You felt it.” Lucifer’s shadows darkened violently again. But before he could attack— Heaven stepped forward. “Stop.” The word cut sharply through the chaos. Everyone turned toward her. Snow swirled softly around Heaven’s figure while faint golden light flickered beneath her skin once more. Azrath’s molten eyes gleamed. “There she is.” Lucifer immediately moved toward her. “You should not be near this.” Heaven ignored him completely. Instead she looked directly at Azrath. “You keep speaking about me like I’m an object.” The rebel lord tilted his head slightly. “Aren’t you?” The celestial flame pulsed instantly. Golden light burst softly outward. The demons recoiled at once. Azrath’s smile faded slightly. Heaven stepped closer despite Lucifer trying to stop her. “No,” she said firmly. “I’m not yours. I’m not his.” Her gaze sharpened. “And I’m tired of everyone deciding my fate except me.” Silence spread across the mountains. Even Lucifer looked surprised. Holland whispered toward Cassian— “She got the terrifying confidence from mother.” Cassian nodded immediately. “Definitely not the king.” Azrath studied Heaven carefully now. Not mockingly. Curiously. “You truly don’t understand what you are carrying.” “Then explain it.” Lucifer’s voice came instantly— “No.” Heaven turned sharply toward him. “You don’t get to keep secrets anymore.” The mate bond pulsed painfully between them. Tension. Fear. Frustration. Lucifer looked away briefly before answering quietly— “The celestial flame is not merely power.” Azrath smiled slowly. “There it is.” Lucifer ignored him. His crimson gaze remained fixed on Heaven now. “It was the final divine weapon created before my fall.” Cold silence followed. Father Orion lowered his head heavily. The guards looked confused. But Heaven— Heaven felt something inside her chest tighten painfully. Lucifer continued quietly. “It was meant to erase Hell permanently.” The world seemed to stop. The storm. The wind. Everything. Heaven stared at him in disbelief. “What?” Azrath laughed softly. “Yes.” His molten eyes gleamed dangerously. “You carry extinction inside your soul, little light.” The celestial warmth inside her suddenly felt horrifying. Lucifer stepped toward her immediately. “It does not define you.” “But it could kill you.” Silence. Lucifer did not answer. And that answer terrified her more than words. The celestial flame. The power inside her. It was designed to destroy Hell. To destroy Lucifer. The mate bond twisted painfully inside her chest. “No…” Lucifer reached for her instinctively. “Heaven.” She stepped backward. Just slightly. But Lucifer noticed. The movement struck him harder than any wound. Azrath saw it too. And smiled. “Now you understand the cruelty of fate.” Lucifer’s expression became murderous instantly. Shadows exploded across the mountains again. “Enough.” Azrath spread his arms mockingly. “Look at her, old king.” His voice sharpened cruelly. “Even she fears what she might become to you.” The words hit. Because Heaven did fear it. Not herself. Hurting him. Lucifer saw the conflict in her eyes. And something inside him quietly broke. For the first time since meeting her— The Devil looked genuinely wounded. Not physically. Emotionally. Then slowly— Lucifer stepped back. Away from her. The distance felt wrong instantly. Cold. Painful. The mate bond reacted violently. Yet Lucifer forced himself farther away anyway. His voice became quiet afterward. “If the flame awakens fully…” He looked directly at Heaven. “You may have to choose between your life and mine someday.” The confession shattered her heart. Because he said it calmly. Like he already accepted losing.
