XANDER
I pulled up to Euphoria in my signature Rolls Royce. There was instantly a valet opening my door, I handed him a $100 bill and continued to the entrance, the rope was pulled back before I got to it, and I continued inside. I nodded to Triss as I entered and headed for the door to the left of the desk which led to my personal 3 story lounge where I could oversee all levels of my club.
I walked in and up the stairs to my lounge that looked into the Garden. To guests it was a mirror with greenery all along it that made the space feel twice as big, but to me it was how I kept tabs on my bar. I walked along the mirror that stretched the width of the rooftop and scanned the crowd looking for any troublemakers. Satisfied that everything looked up to snuff I walked back down to the main level and to the lounge overlooking the dance floor. This one I wasn’t worried about so the glass wasn’t a two-way mirror. I kept it as a typical VIP lounge above the dance floor and even allowed a few friends in to keep up appearances. As I walked in, I saw Dane and Max. They were sitting at the private bar sipping scotch.
I wandered over and nodded to the bartender and she brought me a glass of Johnny Walker Blue, my favorite. “Gentlemen, how is your evening going,” I asked.
Dan responded first, “Good now that we have had a couple drinks, we have been working our assess off today trying to finalize the new building design in Buffalo.”
Max nodded, “The city planner has been a piece of work, he claims our design doesn’t meet their environmental standards which I find hard to believe since few people even bring in an environmental consultant.”
“What does your consultant say about it?” I asked.
“Nimerah thinks they want a payout because she has never heard of most of the regulations that they throw at her, which is saying something. She’s one of the hardest working people I have ever had working for me,” Max responded.
“What happened to Tim?” I asked surprised.
Max scoffed, “I fired that s**t show over a year ago, he didn’t understand the concept the client is always right.”
“Damn, and this woman is better?”
“Better isn’t a good enough work for her Xan, I think she might be the best engineer I have ever worked with.” Max commented.
I was floored, Max didn’t hand out compliments lightly let alone high praise, “Holy s**t, well if I ever need an engineer I’ll call you.”
He nodded and went back to watching the tv above the bar. There was a Bruins game on and I knew I wouldn’t be able to tear those two away from their hockey game for long. I was surprised they weren’t at the box, but this is a better environment to blow off steam after a long week.
I downed the remainder of my drink and walked over to the glass and looked out over the dance floor. I had yet to hear of anyone being thrown out which makes tonight a good night. I scanned the crowd and a woman with blonde hair in a shimmering top caught my eye. She had her arms around another woman and the two were dancing in a way that looked almost practiced. I couldn’t put my finger on it but it looked like a sensually modified version of a ballroom dance. I watched for a minute as the two gyrated and slowly spun around each other.
When the song ended, they headed for the bar and I decided I would have her next dance. I stripped off my suit jacket and tossed it on the couch. I headed for the door that led down to the dance floor. As I descended the steps, I rolled my sleeves up to my elbows and ran my hand through my hair to loosen it a bit. I didn’t need to look formal down here and I didn’t feel like drawing attention to myself right now.
NIMERA
Miranda and I wandered up to the bar to get some water and a couple drinks. We both needed a break after dancing for so long. As we were walking, I noticed Miranda hasten her steps a bit, I looked up and realized why. The bartender was none other than Ellie, the woman Miranda was head over heels for. We slide into a couple of free barstools and Ellie smiled and waved at us. She finished serving a few customers and headed over to us. “Hey ladies, what are we drinking tonight?”
Miranda spoke first, “Whatever you whip up baby.”
Ellie blushed and got to work. We watched her gracefully grab various bottles and add ingredients to the shaker. When she was finished, she set two martini glasses in front of us and poured the pale green drink in.
It was delicious, earthy, and subtly sweet. I could taste gin, rosemary, lime, and a few other flavors I couldn’t figure out. Miranda leaned over the bar and whispered in Ellie's ear and she giggled and whispered something back. Whatever they were talking about must have been good because Miranda broke out into a huge smile as Ellie stepped back and walked to her waiting customers.
“What are you smiling about,” I asked her.
“Well you are on your own in about 10 minutes when she wraps up her shift,” she responded still smiling.
I shook my head at her, “I’m glad to see you convinced her to go out with you again.”
“Well out onto the dance floor at least,” she smiled.
We sat there sipping our drinks and some water and chatted idly. Soon 10 minutes had gone by and Ellie appeared behind us dressed to the nines. “Don’t wait up Nim,” Miranda said as she hopped out of her chair and dragged Ellie to the dance floor. I swiveled my chair around and watched the two completely engrossed in each other. Those two are so cute, I hope they pull their heads out of their asses and make things official.
I was pulled out of my head when a deep rumbling voice asked, “mind if I join you?” I looked over to see an absolute god of a man smirking at me. I ran my eyes down his body admiring his chiseled jaw and tousled black hair, down to his muscled shoulders that his crisp white shirt stretched across. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and I noticed one arm was covered in with swirling tattoos. I continued down to his sizeable budge in his snug black pants. I finally drug my gaze back up to his face and our eyes met. I felt my heart skip a beat and speed up. He had deep green eyes that sparkled like emeralds, I noticed his nostrils flare slightly and his eyes darkened. I sucked in a breath as I noticed the intensity in his gaze. Something about this man was turning my insides to mush and I didn’t even know him.
I put on my most disarming smile and answered, “be my guest.”
