XANDER
I woke up around 2pm to knocking on my door. "What," I grumbled.
"Alpha Cintro is here to see you sir," replied a timid voice.
I groaned, "Thanks Lydia, I'll be down in 5 minutes." Lydia was one of the pack Omegas, very sweet girl but afraid of her own shadow. She had been bullied at her previous pack and a few years ago when her parents approached me about joining my pack to protect their daughter, I welcomed them with open arms. Ever since she came to working age a couple years ago at 16 I requested that she be placed with me so that nobody here would mess with her. I intended to keep my word to her parents that she would be safe here from both physical and mental harm.
I snapped back to reality and rolled out of bed. I sighed, not wanting to leave my plush bed and silk sheets. Between managing my club and the pack I had been up all night dealing with a variety of drama. I stretched my muscles and then headed to my closet. After throwing on a pair of dark jeans and a white t shirt I headed out my door. I stepped out of my room and closed the door behind me. I headed for the elevator not awake enough yet to want to take the stairs, especially being on the 4th floor.
When I reached the main floor, the elevator dinged and opened to Alpha Cintro and his beta Dane chatting with my beta Gabe. I greeted them, "Sorry I'm late, let's head to my office." We headed from the foyer down the east hall to my office.
I closed the door and asked, "to what do I owe the pleasure of an official visit Max?" Our fathers were both alphas before us and being neighboring packs meant we saw a lot of eachother growing up. We became good friends which made life much easier when we became alphas as we already had a solid relationship and didn't let our egos get in the way of strengthening our packs. We made an official alliance 5 years ago and both packs have benefitted greatly ever since.
"Not quite official, moreso a neighboring alpha checking in on his ally."
I shot him a curious look as I moved to sit behind my desk.
Once we were all seated he continued, "Look if anyone asks this was just a friendly visit to check in, but I have some concerning news. Last night we had a rogue attack, nothing we couldn't handle, we dispatched 3 and kept one for questioning. What is concerning is that he is nearly incoherent just constantly rambling about the coming of Kahn, whoever the f**k that's supposed to be. For now I want to keep this quiet, I don't want to raise alarm if it's not necessary."
"The coming of Kahn? I have never heard that name before," I commented.
"I haven't either but this guy acts like he is a god," Max replied shaking his head.
I sighed, "I think you are right, we don't need to raise any alarm until we gather more information. I will call my father and see if he has any input, otherwise we will have to consult our pack elders, though that will be difficult to do without raising suspicions."
Max nodded, "I left my father a message but I am waiting for him to call me back so we can discuss the matter, let me know if you learn anything new."
"Sounds good, have you eaten?"
Max's eyes lit up, "No not yet, are you offering lunch?" Max had a crush on our head omega that worked in the kitchen. Omega by birth, but that woman was an absolute firecracker and kept the kitchen running like a well oiled machine, not to mention she was an incredible chef.
I laughed, "Let's head to the kicthen and see if Mandy is there." We all stood up and left my office heading for the kitchen.
As we entered the kitchen I saw Mandy with her notebook ordering around omegas to put away groceries and start prep for dinner tonight. I smiled, at 5'2" she was a small wolf, but she more than made up for it with her attitude. Even the warriors wouldn't dare cross her. She turned to us and greeted the four of us with a big smile, "Alpha, Beta, Alpha Cintro, Beta Dane, to what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Well Mandy, Max over here was hoping you might be able to whip up a late lunch for us." I smirked when Max started blushing slightly.
She laughed, "I think that can be arranged, take a seat boys." We all watched her float around the kitchen gathering ingredients and supplies, trying to figure out what lunch might be. When we saw leftover steak come out we knew what was coming.
"Yes! Steak sandwhiches, pay up!" Hollered Gabe.
I looked to my right to see Dane grumble and hand a $100 bill to Gabe, "You two were betting on what would be for lunch?" I asked incredulously.
"Don't be silly Xan, we were betting on what kind of meat Mandy would pull out of the fridge."
I shook my head, those two were ridiculous. With all their betting I don't actually think either of them have won anything, they just end up losing and having to pay it back. I ignored their bickering and turned to Max, "how's Cintro Holdings?"
He sighed, "Just been crazy busy lately, the investment firm is pretty much running itself now which is nice but the Buffalo project has been a colossal pain in my ass."
"s**t ya I forgot you were expanding up there, what does Alpha White have to say about that," I asked.
"Believe it or not that was the easiest part of the whole deal, Alpha White was more than happy to let us onto his turf as long as we went out of our way to hire in his pack. Sounds like money is little tight up there."
I nodded, "Well that's good to hear, when you have less on your plate remind me to show you a project I've been working on."
"A project?" He asked.
"Ya I recently bought up some more land up in Maine, I want to put up a few buildings."
"s**t, okay, just let me know, the construction firm is ready for another big project anyway," he replied.
I nodded, "I still need to work a few things out and finalize some plans but I will keep you posted." More like figure out how the f**k I am going to move 650 pack members. East Moon Pack is one of the largest in the country, certainly the largest in the East, and we were constantly growing. There has been some tension recently because we just don't have enough land down here for everyone. I haven't shared this plan with anyone but Gabe, but we are putting up a new packhouse with the goal of moving half of the pack by the end of this year. Massachusets and New Hampshire are just too populated, especially for the space we occupy.
I will miss managing my clubs, but they are in good hands here. I finally found enough solid help and got enough of my pack members working in management positions that I don't have to worry much anymore.
"Bon Appetit," exclaimed Mandy pulling me from my thoughts. She set a plate with an enormous steak sanwhich, a twice baked potato and a heaping pile of asparagus in front of each of us. We all went silent and dug in. Mandy chuckled and went back to managing the kitchen.
After lunch we sent off Max and Dane then Gabe and I went to my office to get back to work on the new packhouse plans. Before we knew it hours had gone by and the dinner bell was ringing.
"f**k man, I know I have a degree in architecture but you are asking a bit much of me," said Gabe as he sat back in his chair.
I know I had big ideas for the packhouse, but this was going to be a new permanent home for the pack and I wanted it to be perfect. I wanted it to be able to remain for generations to come and be completely self sufficient. "Just get as far as you can Gabe and make a list of what you can't do and I will find someone."
He nodded, "Will do, now let's go eat, I can't stare at these plans any longer." We both stood up and headed for the dining hall.
