AN ODE TO ALL NONE BRITISH READERS
This poem is to apologise/apologize.
I do not wish to offend your eyes,
But I’m a Brit and you may think
My spelling’s completely on the blink. (fritz)
My sombre/somber poem’s for you to see,
You may not write the same as me.
You use a `z´ when I use `s´
In cosy/cozy and idealised/idealized. I guess
I add a `u´ when you do not,
In honour/honor and colour/color (It happens a lot!)
Ambience/ambiance and travelling/traveling
Our difference in spelling is a curious thing!
So as you manoeuvre/maneuver through this book,
And at these variances, you look,
Mistakes for you are not for me,
(It’s the way that I was taught you see.)
I need to emphasise/emphasize this well…
Before you assume I cannot spell!
I hope you’ll enjoy this book you’ve bought,
and not give these differences another thought.
Kind regards, Michele xx
