Thursday was tryouts and I made it as second string running back.  It was unheard of for a freshman to make first string anything so I tried not to feel too bitter about it.  Chuck actually nodded at me in approval and Jos bumped fists with me as I jogged by him.     Mac made second string linebacker, of course, since he’s still an absolute tank.  Casey and Trey were offensive linemen.  The four of us have been playing since elementary school so we expected to make the team.  Some other freshmen weren’t so lucky.  I felt for them but kept it moving to the locker room to shower up.  It was after I was dressed that Trey clapped me on the back, congratulating me for getting the position I wanted.  Well, sort of.  “You’ll be there Friday, right?”     “Yeah,” I nodded.  That reminded me to br
