“The Gillian Mayers. Thank you for coming.” I held out my hand for a handshake, but Gillian extended his arm for a side hug. I accepted his embrace, stepping away two seconds after our bodies touched.
“Thank you for inviting me.” Gillian responded with a big smile on his face.
I nodded grimly. “It’s my pleasure to have you. Come on, you have to sit at my table.”
I started to walk away but he called out after me, “Oh no, you don’t have to worry about that.”
I turned around to face him with a raised brow, and he went on with that same smile on his face. “I came here with a date. I’ll be sitting with her.”
I got uneasy at once.
“You are? Who is—hmm.” The last word was a grunt as I saw Evelyn come out from a corner, dressed in the most appealing red number I’d ever seen.
