POV Zander

Stomping down the hall and out the hospital door, I wanted answers. When I'd asked Kyle for help he should have known better than to involve me in some crazy runaway story. I ripped my phone from my pocket and punched in his name, instantly his face was on the screen. "What the hell did you just saddle me with!" I shouted. "What? Z I swear she is credible, maybe a little rough around the edges but she can get the job done" Kyle quickly replied. "The hell she can, she's laying up in a hospital bed right now and" before I could finish my sentence I heard someone in the background growl. "What the hell did you do to her!?" It was Tytus yanking Kyle's phone from his hand. "I've done nothing and you better watch your tone with me boy or you won't like what happens next" I snapped. Kyle quickly grabbed his phone back, "Z what is going on? What's wrong with Alex?" "You're telling me you know nothing about her?" I questioned. "No man, I've told you everything I know about her, she's lived her a little over a year, keeps to herself besides me and Tytus, and what I've heard from others is she always completes her work with efficiency. She's never even been sick from what I know." You could hear the concern in Kyle's voice, I'm not sure if it was for Alex or out of fear that I may come after him. "If you come up with anything about her, anything at all call me immediately. I'll update you later." I hung up the phone. Hopefully the council will have more answers now that they've had a chance to look over everything Dr. Gable had sent them.

Our territory spanned the entire top of the mountain range, from up here we were not only protected from any unwelcome guests but we had plenty of room to let our guards down and relax. When I got into my home office I quickly dialed the councils number. Surely they could tell me something, I'd never known of a wolf not knowing what they were before much less that I wasn't able to detect it from our first meeting. 

"Hello"

"This is Alpha Zander, I was hoping you had looked over the case our pack doctor sent you."

"Yes, we've been discussing it, what a curious discovery you've made, you're sure she didn't know about her condition?"

"Yes Yes I'm positive, and had she known surely she wouldn't have followed me up the trail giving her secrets away."

"Very true, well it seems this girl was put under a spell, the only way she would not have shifted when she became of age is if someone suppressed her wolf, keeping it from reveling itself to her.

"Who could possess the ability to do such a thing?

"We are not sure, that is something very concerning to us here, and will be searching all our records to see if we can find this missing little wolf. Now Alpha Zander it is imperative that you keep her with you, now that your doctor has given her the medication all her abilities will start coming to the surface. This girl will be going from thinking she was a human to shifting to possibly linking with a mate all in the next 24 hours, it will be a big adjustment."

"Yes I understand, she will be under my protection."

I hung up the phone and placed my head in my hands, who possibly would do that to a baby? She is only a year or two beneath me, I don't recall hearing anything about a stolen infant when the pack was passed down to me. I glanced at the clock it was already early morning, I quickly splashed some water on my face and headed back down to the hospital with Alex's stuff. She sure was a strange female, the only things on her bike were her cell phone, a blade, and an extra change of clothes, glancing at her phone I saw five missed notifications all from Tytus Miller. 

"Oh Alpha can I help you with something?" a new nurse jogged up beside me. "No I am fine thank you, is Dr. Gable still on call?" I asked without glancing at her. "Yes I will get her for you right away" she replied and then scampered off. I found Alex's door shut and curtain drawn, I decided to knock to not startle her. "Come in." I heard her say roughly. She seemed irritated as I entered the room. "When can I get out of here? I need to go home" she demanded. "You sure are a feisty one, did you get any rest?" I asked ignoring her demands. "No that little nurse kept jabbing at me all night, I can't even get anything to eat." Alex was clearly frustrated and tired, I walked into the hall glancing at the nurse's station, "can she get some food please?" "Oh yes, yes Alpha right away." "Well I'm glad they listen to you, I feel like a prisoner in here" Alex stated. I handed her her phone and set her extra clothes on the chair beside me, keeping the blade in my pocket. "Once Dr. Gable clears you, I will bring you to the pack house, you can stay in the guest room until you're able to return home. I don't want to keep you here either but there are some things we have to do first" I looked at her hoping she understood my intent. "No, no, I need to get home for my..." she trailed off. "Don't tell me you have some cat at home" I scoffed. "No its my plant, it will need water and for the curtain to be opened to get sunlight." I couldn't contain my laughter "You've got to be kidding me, you want to rush out of the hospital to water your plant?" Alex glared at me. "What if I have Kyle bring your plant here so that you know for certain it is being watered properly?" I said half jokingly. "YES! Can Ty come along too? He has a key to my apartment" Alex asked. I growled softly, I didn't like that guy, but if it would keep her happy then I'd have to deal with it. "I'll call Kyle now."
