VICTORIA'S POV
I turned back and my breath stopped. Oh no! Oh no! There had to be a mistake. A few feet away from me, stood no other than my step brother, Kaiden.
"Wh…What?" I stuttered, my voice barely audible. "You're my mate," he frowned and I jerked back in shock.
"No! No, you're wrong. This isn't real!” I yelled, moving away. Kaiden gave me a look of confusion and I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.
"Kai," I called out, stepping closer and his confusion only grew stronger. "No one calls me that except-" he stopped, taking a good look at me. His eyes widened and he came closer.
"Vector?" He asked and I gave him a disappointed look. "It's Victoria," I corrected and his eyes darkened.
"You're Amilia's daughter," he stated and I nodded. "Yea I'm your step sister."
“You’re not my sister. This can't be real," Kaiden muttered, looking at me with frustration but I ignored it. I wasn't the moon goddess, he could go stare at her like that.
"You did something, didn't you?" He asked, glaring at me and I stared at him in disbelief.
Did this asshole just accuse me? Just after seeing me after five years.
"How would I do that? Last I checked I wasn't the moon goddess!” I yelled, his accusations getting on my nerves.
He studied my movements for a while and a chuckle followed. "I Kaiden Volvok reject you, Victoria Carson as my mate and Luna," he said and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I clutched my chest. trying my best to remain standing.
The pain subsided and I stared at him with scorn. “You couldn't even give me a heads up?" I asked trying to ignore how weak and rejected I felt.
Sure our mate bond was that of an abomination but it felt like he did it because he hated my mom and I.
"We have nothing tying us together. Stay away from me and make sure you tell no one about this," he said, tucking his hands in his pockets.
"Understood?"
"Yes," I struggled to say, trying to bite down a sob. "Yes what?" He inquired and I glared at him with scorn. I never believed in violence but I wanted to punch him so bad. "Yes Alpha."
I watched him walk away, probably heading towards the mating hall. I slowly stood straight, biting my lips at the pain. "Asshole," I muttered, heading in.
Camila waved at me vigorously and I placed a smile on my lips, walking towards her. "Did you see your brother?" She asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Yea I saw him," I muttered, glaring at him. He stood on the podium and I took a good look at him. If he wasn't such a b***h, I would have actually called him handsome. His midnight hair was styled back, and he wore an armani suit, so fit it looked like a second skin.
"Guess what?" Camila said and I turned to her, curiosity on my face. "I found my mate," she whispered and I stared at her in shock. "Wow I'm so happy for you!" I yelled, my face turning pink when I realized others were staring at me.
Elder Erwin’s voice broke through the noise, amplified by a microphone. "Young ones, it is my honor to announce our new pack Alpha," he noted and I stood still while others clapped and cheered him.
Elder Erwin handed the microphone to Kaiden, his eyes filled with admiration. Who wouldn't?
He had been away for the past five years, putting an end to all the rouge packs. The peaceful ones had been merged with others and the criminal ones extinguished and now he was the youngest Alpha to lead.
"Thank you Erwin," Kaiden said, his gray eyes expressionless. "As the new Alpha of the pack, I vow to protect the values and boundaries of the pack. Even with my life," he said and the hall filled with cheers. I scanned the hall and from the looks of it, girls were drooling over him.
This is pathetic.
"I'm heading home," I said, turning to Camila. She studied my movements, about to say something but seemed to swallow it.
The drive home was a silent one. I had no interest in going to that ball and now I was rejected by the one person that was supposed to complete me.
Something in me wished I could get a second chance mate but that was so rare it was almost impossible. I stepped out of the car, walking in and something felt off. The house was dark and quiet.
Even though I was the only heir living here since my parents died, it was never this quiet. Shrugging my shoulders, I walked in, heading for my room.
Some noise got closer and I increased my pace, my face twisting with confusion.
What’s going on?
I turned on the light, staring at the servants. They stood in front of my room, some of my stuffs in their arms.
"Miss Carson. Welcome back," Eleanor the house keeper said, walking towards me.
"What are you doing in my room? What is going on?" I asked, trying to ignore the temper rising in me.
‘You had a bad day don't be a b***h,’ I thought.
"Well, you're aware Alpha Kaiden is back," she explained and I nodded, waiting for her to go on.
"He ordered your things be moved to the other side of the mansion," she completed and I stared at her like she just grew an extra head.
"He what?!" I yelled and she jerked back in shock. I had never yelled at anyone before and guilt ate at me instantly.
"I'm sorry but when was that?” I asked, forcing the words out of my teeth.
"A few minutes ago,” she said and I nodded. "Put everything back,” I ordered, heading in.
"That's not possible, Alpha gave us direct orders. We might be punished if we disobey,” she explained and I nodded, trying to ignore the anger that burned within.
"Go ahead," I ordered, heading downstairs. He was supposed to be my mate but he was such an asshole. If he was going to act this way, I had no choice but to fight back. I headed down stairs and the entrance door pushed open to reveal none other than him.
