Episode 3

KAIDEN'S POV I stared at a figure standing at the bottom of the stairs. The large gown was enough to tell me who it was and I cursed under my breath, not in the mood to talk. I never wanted a mate. They were nothing but a weakness and distraction. My mother proved to be a great example of it and now the moon goddess had given me none other than the daughter of dad’s side chick. "Welcome home," she said but it was as dry as the dessert. I ignored her, heading up the other side of the stairs. "I'm talking to you!" she yelled, walking as fast as the large gown would let her. She ran towards me, gripping my arm and I yanked it off, trying to ignore the sparks that flowed in. I had rejected her yet I could still feel the mate bond a little. That wasn't normal. She stared at me, taken back by my outburst. I let out a frustrated sigh, looking down at her. "Shouldn't you be asleep?" I asked with a bored tone. "I would be if you hadn't asked them to move me out of my room!” she yelled at me and I winced at her tone. “There is nothing wrong with that. It's going to be exactly the same and you can get an interior decorator tomorrow," I said. I wasn't going to make her suffer. At least not yet. I just didn't want her around me. "No, I want my old room. What the f**k is wrong with you.” "Aren't you too young to be cursing? Go to bed," I muttered, heading up. "Would you stop being such an asshole? I know you hate me and you probably hate me more because you got mated to me but you have no right to treat me as such," she muttered and I paused in my tracks. "I don't hate you. If I did, you won't be alive," I threatened and I heard her heart race. "If anyone finds out about being my mate. I'll make you regret it." I heard her whimper. There was no doubt that I had hit a nerve but I didn't care. I walked out the stairs. Taking a seat on my bed, Victoria’s words littered my mind and I tried to shake them off but something ate at me. My mind drifted back to her and a chuckle left my lips. She had grown up into a dashing woman. My phone buzzed, throwing all my thoughts out the window. I turned it on, staring at the caller's name. It turned out to be my beta. I picked the call, pressing the phone against my ear. "What is it?" I asked, running a hand through my hair. "Sorry to disturb you but Alpha Jason asked to see you," his voice rang through the phone. "What does he want?" I asked in a gruff tone. Jason was the youngest Alpha aside me I had expected him to try to be friends. "Tell him I'm busy, he should schedule a meeting tomorrow," I said, staring at the pile of papers on my table. "I don't think I can do that," he muttered and I made a sound of confusion. "He's already in your office with me,” Aaron explained and I cursed. "Okay I'll be there," I said, throwing on a shirt. I took the first car, driving towards the pack house. "What is it?" I muttered, pushing the door open. "Long time no see," Jason said with a bright smile and I stared back at him with a bored face. "We've never met before," I said, taking a seat behind my table. He stared at me in shock and I lifted an eyebrow, waiting for what he had to say. Jason took a seat, clearing his throat. "I have something that might appeal to you,” he said and I let out a yawn, slowly losing my patience. "You know we are the youngest in the council," he said and I kept my eyes ahead, waiting for him to get straight to the point. "I'm aware of that fact." Jason chuckled, pulling of his tie. "So I've got a preposition for you." "I happened to see your sister, Victoria," he said and sat up. I did not like where this was going. "What do you want with her?" I asked, hoping he'd pick up the hint. I wanted nothing to do with another pack, especially so fast. "Well I found her really attractive," he continued and I raised an eyebrow. "Go straight to the point," I growled. "I was hoping you'd let me marry her," he said and silence filled the room. "Why?" I asked, leaning towards him. "No reason, I just felt a connection with her, she's probably my mate," he said and I felt the urge to call out his bluff. She couldn't be his mate when I just rejected her and the odds of him being a second chance mate was practically impossible. "She never said anything about having a mate," I tried to reason and his face fell. "Well we don't know yet," Jason continued, running a hand through his hair. "Besides, it's not for free," he explained and I felt my interest pick up. "What do you mean by that," I asked, interlocking my fingers. "Well we would obviously have a truce if I marry her, she'd become the Luna of the pack and we could make each other stronger," he said and I could not help but think about it. It was a tempting offer. Being the youngest Alphas was tough for us as the older ones hoped they could take over especially since I had the largest pack. I also wouldn't have to see Victoria anymore. For some reason the mate bond was still prominent and it was surely going to increase the more she stayed around. “What about your mate?” I asked and he studied me, shock evident on his face. His face fell for a second and he looked away. “She's dead.” “You can marry Victoria.”
