VICTORIA'S POV
I yanked out of bed, a loud noise just outside my bedroom. Well it was my new room and I hated it. It was bigger than the last but that wasn't going to change anything. I had been in that room since my mom got married to my step dad six years ago.
All my memories were there and now I had been forced to move out by someone I wasn't going to mention the name. A knock landed on my door and I sat up.
"Who is it?" I asked, wincing at how dried my throat felt. "Victoria, it's Eleanor," she said, pushing the door open.
"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" She asked but all my attention was on the box she carried.
"What's in there?” I asked, nodding towards it. "It's a gift for you," she explained with a bold smile and I stared at her, confused.
“A gift from who?" I asked and she ignored my question, placing the box on the bed. "Come check it out," she muttered and I stepped out of cover, crawling towards it. I pulled the lid off, my jaw dropping as I stared at a velvety red dress.
It looked expensive.
Very expensive.
"This is pretty but who gave it?" I asked, turning to Eleanor.
“I heard it was Alpha Jason. He said something about wanting to go out with you."
"No! I'm not aware of this," I said, stepping away from the dress. "You're not? But Alpha said you two are to be married." The room went dead silent at her words and I stared frozen, trying to form words.
"This is some sort of terrible joke right?" I laughed. She shook her head and my face fell. This can't be true. He actually wanted to sell me off.
Was he crazy?
“Where is he?" I asked, my voice surprisingly calm despite the storm that brewed within. "Ria, I think-"
"Where the f**k is he?!" I yelled and she paled. "In his room getting ready for a meeting," she said and I walked out of the room, heading to the opposite side of the mansion. I pushed his door open walking in.
Just then he walked out of his closet, putting on his cufflinks. "Why are you in my room?" He asked, looking up.
"Is it true?"
"That you're getting married? Yes," he said, turning to me. His gray eyes held no emotion like always and I felt my temper rising.
"Why? Are you that insecure that you have to sell me off?" I asked, stepping closer to him.
"First of all, I didn't sell you off. Take it as me helping you. I rejected you and you'd never find another so I'm giving you a makeshift mate," he explained but it did nothing to calm me down.
If anything, it only made matters worse.
"I don't remember asking for this ur "help". Call the marriage of, now!" I ordered, my chest heaving. Kai locked eyes with me before throwing a proud no.
My face went red with anger and it seemed to only excite him.
"You can't do this, you're just scared that you might not be able to control yourself," I said, hoping something would stop him from ruining my life. He stared at me, his jaw clenched. It seemed like my words hit a nerve.
"Don't lie. You still feel the mate bond and you know it, so you're hoping you'd ship me off," I said, stepping closer until I was practical against his chest.
"That's a lie," he muttered and I tilted my head to the side. "Prove it. Call the wedding off. Let me stay," I said in a low voice with a bold grin on my face. He seemed confused for a while but it suddenly disappeared, replaced with a smirk.
"No, I have another way." A chill ran down my spine and I took a step back wanting to create distance between us but his arm snaked around my waist.
"What are you doing?" I tried to say but he slammed his lips on mine and I stared at him, frozen in shock. His hands trailed down my body and my wolf purred in excitement.
My lips felt heavy and I returned the kiss. Kai licked my lower lip and I opened my mouth, giving him entrance.
His tongue slipped in and it roamed every corner of my mouth like it was searching for a hidden treasure. A throaty moan left my lips and I tried to ignore how wet such a small act had gotten me. His hand made its way to my breast and he kneaded it softly.
Suddenly something in me snapped and I peeled my eyes open. I'm kissing my step brother. I placed my hands on his chest, pushing him with so much force he fell on his bed. He chuckled, licking his lips and I looked away, not wanting him to know how much that affected me.
"Why would you do that? That doesn't even prove anything!" I yelled, ignoring how nervous I suddenly felt around him.
Was he always this handsome?
"It doesn't matter, you're getting married to him," he ordered, his gaze enough to tell that his words were final. I opened my mouth to say something but bit it, not wanting to add fuel to the fire.
"I'm not marrying anyone. Especially someone you picked out."
I stepped out of his room, walking back to mine. My heart raced without control and I touched my lips, the feeling of his still present.
He’s my stepbrother.
I shook my head, getting rid of the thoughts. "Miss Carson," Eleanor called and I looked up to find her staring at me with worry. "Alpha Jason is already here."
"Tell him I caught the flu or something." I sighed, walking in. "I don't think I can do that. You have to get ready, Alpha Kai said to make sure," she pleaded and I felt myself tense on hearing his name.
"Okay. I'll go get ready to see my husband to be," I muttered, trying to not cry.
