Every time my phone rang, my heart would leap into my throat. It was ridiculous to act like that because of a man I didn't even know but for some mysterious reason, he'd caught my attention and I wasn't letting him go any time soon.
When it turned out it wasn't him on the other end of the line, I found myself entertaining the idea that he had been lying when he said he was going to call again tonight. Maybe he only said it to keep me happy, or he hadn't known what else to say.
