Chapter 2

Chapter 2: His View

Unlike the city wherein a lot of cars and other transportation is busy all day long, Jasper has a different place to talk. A big stone castle and a lot of warriors that are on the front side of the castle are doing their job, which is to guard and keep the people in the palace safe, especially the family handling the thrones.

Jasper swam to the far side of their villa and tried to figure out the hidden beauty of it where nobody else could be seen besides all the mermaids and a merman. He sighed and looked at his side where all of his friends were playing and joking around.

He looks so stiff while looking at the big palace. It is a mysterious place where all of the secrets of the throne family are. He didn't look happy at all.

“Competitions, pride, guilt, and hatred,” he told himself while looking at the big palace while his arms were crossed. He was still wondering about it when his friend Angelo tapped his shoulder, which made him look like him.

“What happened to Prince Jasper?” Angelo told Jasper, which made Jasper look at the palace again.

“You know how beautiful the palace is, right?” Jasper asked Angelo and made Angelo look at him curiously and couldn’t even paint his own reactions. He is confused about how seriously Jasper is acting right now.

“Yeah? But what is the point of being serious right now, Prince? Is there anything wrong?” Angelo asked, which made him look at the other merman wandering around the castle.

“Kevin, Leo, and Michael are going to the warrior room right now as the Prince commanded,” Angelo told them, which made Jasper look at it and the three submit themselves.

It is the Prince who commands, by the way. That's why they need to submit whether they like it or not. That is the main reason why Jasper doesn't want the place of being a Prince. Instead of making a lot of friends that would talk to him as a friend also, they didn’t and they can’t because of the hierarchy the whole ocean has.

“You know what I hate the most, Angelo-,” The Prince uttered, which made him look at Angelo, who looked at the whole castle too.

“Of all, I am the one who is the closest to you. That's why I know that there’s something bothering you, Prince. I have been with you since we were little. This is not the first time I have seen you thinking so deep as the ocean we are living in right now. You can tell it to me, I am a friend right now like what you always wanted me to be,” Angelo started with a smile on his face and that made Jasper smirk and sigh.

Prince Jasper is bothered by the feelings and emotions that are starting to create beyond his heart right now.

“You know what the real state of the palace is, Angelo, and I would not deny it to you. I am not yet ready to marry someone, but it is for the whole palace too. I was stuck in that kind of idea, that I couldn’t even solve the problem that our palace would have if I did not marry someone. I want to stop that kind of idea, especially since I have no one to be paired with right now. I don’t have in my mind,” Jasper stated with his whole feelings and confused emotions.

“I understand what you are feeling right now. Think about it carefully, the whole palace is in your hands, you are a Prince and that is a big responsibility to have. You must think of it carefully-,” The words of wisdom Angelo gave to the Prince cutted by one of the warriors of the grand queen.

“Prince Jasper the Grand Queen wants you to be at the meeting right now,” The warrior stated, making Angelo and Jasper look at each other.

Angelo is still worried about his friend’s state. The big responsibility he had on his back at his young age will not be acknowledged by anyone except to those people who saw him striving.

“I’m going, Angelo,” Jasper stated to his friend, and swam through the ocean and to the palace with a lot of things on his mind.

Poor Jasper, he is striving so hard for the future of the palace and for their whole colony.

Rooming at the whole castle with the warriors that give glory to him, he just nodded and sighed as if he was in the meeting hall of the palace.

All of the respected mermaids and merman are here. He feels nervous and quite pressured by all of those who look at him. He sat at his seat and the grand queen looked at him worriedly.

“My son, Jasper, where have you been? The meeting started a while ago.” The queen started with a worried face and looked at the King, who had never expressed feelings for him.

The Prince smiled at his mother and looked at the grand queen.

“Grand Queen, why do you want me to be at a meeting like this? With all of the respective-,” The Prince got cut off by the grand queen.

As she stood up on her throne and looked at her grandson.

“Jasper, you know why I want you to be here, right?” The Grand Queen looked with authority that made the Prince gulp for a moment and look straight into the eyes of his grandmother.

“With all due respect, Grand Queen, I already told you and also to the Queen and the King that I will think about it-,” Got cutted again by the King’s powerful voice.

“Jasper! Listen, you are a Prince and act like one!” The whole palace trembled in fear when they heard the voice of the King as angry as the sharks they have in the colony.

“King, come down,” the soft voice of the Queen tried hard to make the King come back to his senses.

The Prince stood up and looked at the King and how hard it was for him to be pressured to marry someone or to have someone to be married off.

“Acting like a Prince? Am I not doing my best?” The Prince started to question his ability.

The Queen’s soft space for her child began to burst out with the silver tears that came out of her eyes.

“Prince Jasper stop it, you are worth it. You are my child,” The Queen did her best to make the tension between the Father and child go down as the Grand Queen looked at them with empathic eyes too.

“Stop this nonsense Jasper, you know that you need to for the sake of the whole palace!” The Grand Queen exclaimed and Jasper nodded in agreement without taking out everything that was on his mind right now.

Full of anger, mixed emotions of the feelings that the throned family has right now but Jasper chose to swim away out of the pressure that they built upon him.

“Jasper got her back! We are not done yet with the meeting!” The King stated but Jasper didn’t want to hear even if the King’s command it himself.

“I don’t want to be in this kind of situation again,” He stated to himself while disobeying the higher ups commandment.

Looking for the place in the colony where he can be free and set his decision right for everyone here in the palace. A one little decision may affect all of the mermaid and mermen living in, he swam away to a place to think of everything that he could do to have an effective idea and to establish the thinking to his father that he will be a great King someday with a fabulous wisdom from the mighty mermaids.

He swims near the shore to see how the people are doing right now. He always does this whenever he gets bored or annoyed at the palace. Looking at them makes him happy and amazed at the same time. But this time, it is different.

He looks at the woman who looks so unreal. Her brown golden curly hair perfectly suits her fair white skin and to her strawberry pinkish cheeks because of the saltwater. The beauty it gives to him makes his pearl bracelet bluish in color.

He looked at it and secured it with his hands. He already knew what exactly it meant, so his eyes widened and looked back at the girl he saw. His eyes were caught by the beauty of the woman that made him panic a bit.

“This can’t be, why the hell does everything get complicated?” He asked himself while swimming in the sea to look at the woman who drowned herself.

He looks at the girl while making her way up but she can’t. Jasper wants to help at that moment he realizes that the girl will be in an accident but as he wants to go through that woman he sees himself. He saw his reflection on the sea which made him stop for a bit.

His bluish eyes and hazel hair and his build may be like a human's, but he still doesn’t have any feet but a tail like a fish. He sighed as a moment of realization that he couldn’t be. Both the pressure and the will are making their own way of killing that woman.

She looks desperate, which makes Jasper think that they are in the same way.

She wants to live but doesn't want to survive. Neither making their lives more miserable. When Jasper gasped for air, the girl didn’t. She didn’t fight but the pearl became more bluish than he had ever seen before.

“Why have things got so complicated?” He asked himself and swam through the woman who almost lost her life.

Despite thinking twice whether he would save the girl that made his pearl shine so bright. He swam towards the girl and thought straight as he was.

He doesn’t want that woman to end her life that fast because of this tragedy. He does want to make sure that he will also know why his pearl lights up when he sees this woman. A woman with a name necklace on.

“Amberly,” he uttered and placed his hands on her waist and tried to make sure that she was going to live after this.

The bluish pearl lights as it can see the whole kingdom. He tried to hide it but Amberly’s hands accidentally slide towards the bracelet that made a spark between the two bodies.

A spark that made him looked at the beautiful face of the woman who couldn't even open her eyes properly and he raised his arms to make the pearl make its way. Prince Jasper carried Amberly on the way back to the shore when he stopped the time in the land for him not to be seen by anyone nor Amberly.

He looked one more time at the woman who surpassed his ideal.

As he tried to hold on to Amberly’s face, all of the hatred memories before she drowned in the sea made its way to Jasper and knew every single detail of it.

“F*ck life is, how poor we are living in different worlds but struggling like a half,” He uttered while the girl lost her consciousness lying on the sand.

He then looked at the bracelet, making its way bluish than ever. He then looked for the last time and made a mark on his left wrist. A symbol that a mermaid will know that they meet that person and it’s special. He left the shore and went to the sea and brought back the time to go on.

The girl opened her eyes and he was just watching her from afar when her gaze met him. He swam away while panicking that the girl would see and know what and who was him.

“Thank you,” He then heard the girl's voice because of the mark that he did make.

He smiled and swam away. Still the bracelet is blue making him smile as no one has made him before.

Pressure, Breathtaking moments, dying, all of those are in their minds but still they met to make each other’s life worth it.

Bluish bracelet, a merman found his mate for the first time and it was a pure and selfless love. That was what it meant. Jasper looked at the light that reflected in the deep ocean.
