We got Kain to the hospital, and luckily Damian was there to explain what he knew about the drugs Roy and his brother were using to kill wolves. The doctor ran blood tests on Kain and confirmed that's what they were giving him. I stood next to the bed feeling completely helpless as my mate fought for his life.
He looked so pale and lifeless. I just held his hand and watched as the doctor started the IV to reverse the effects of the drugs. He said it could take anywhere from a few hours to a full day for it to kick in. His breathing was shallow, but his heart was still beating. As long as his heart keeps beating, we have hope.
