"Say that again." Ivy threatened, her voice cold.
"You will do the interview," Sheila muttered once again, her voice fierce and determined.
"What?" Ivy's reeling voice echoed.
"Yes, that's why I let them direct the email to you." Sheila snarled.
"That's not my job, I wouldn't do it."
"But you will, you would do the interview, the negotiation as well as the work."
Ivy's brows raised and her fist tightened even harder, her knuckles turning white. Where does she get all these nerves?
"And I said I wouldn't do it!"
"Well.. we'll see about that," Sheila muttered, her lips tilted into a smirk.
Ivy's blood boiled in her blood. If they were outside, she'd have slapped her face, but this was the office. She clenched her teeth hard.
"You'd better not look forward to it. Word of advice." She muttered.
"We'll see to that," Sheila replied, making her more reeled up.
She balled her fist tightly and turned to leave.
A few minutes later, she arrived at her office.
She couldn't wait to get out of this place now! It was suffocating her for only God knows why. At first, she thought she could get this work done before she was evicted, but now everything was getting out of hand, she couldn't stay here to take any more of this humiliation.
She was fed up with Ryder and his ex. They could have had this place all to themselves.
Just then, Larisa walked into her office.
"Viee what are you doing?" She rushed forward, anxiety evident in her voice.
"I'm getting a divorce." She muttered, her voice resolute.
Larisa's eyes opened wide, "You don't mean that, right?" She queried, her eyes glued on Ivy.
"I'm tired Lar, I don't know what I've done to Ryder to deserve all this from him."
"Aside from taking my place, she also wants me to do her job Lar."
"So I heard just now."
Without saying any more words, Larisa engulfed Ivy in a tight hug.
As though that was what she needed for her head to clear off, she tightened her hand around her body as she drowned in so many tears.
She had been mocked, laughed at, many times in this company and she'd accepted it all because of Ryder, but what did she get in return? Heartache, more mockery, he couldn't even protect her, he mocked her himself in front of his ex and gave what was absolutely meant for her to his ex who had no experience. She had worked so hard for it, but Ryder only gave it to those he deemed fit.
As her thoughts go haywire, her cries intensified. while Larisa rocked her back slowly, trying to soothe her.
When she felt she was calm now, Larisa cleared her throat.
"Viee.." Larisa called, her voice soft.
"I don't think you should leave now.." She spoke, her voice still soft and consoling.
"If she asks you to do the interview or everything involved, I think you should do it.." Ivy's body stiffened against Larisa's body and she retreated.
"Larisa?" Ivy called, her forehead creased.
"Yes Viee, we all know the benefits this contract comes with for you, Viee. Don't throw it away because of some girl who isn't still sure about her career path."
Ivy's brows blinked and her head c****d aside. Larisa was making sense, but she just wasn't convinced enough yet.
Then Larisa's voice came through again.
"If not so, why is she here? I heard her company had long gone bankrupt, that's why she relocated back to California." Larisa spoke.
"And you think she'd do any better in our company? She can't run a successful business Viee, even Mr CEO will soon realise all this. She wouldn't be in that position for long. Viee I don't think you should lose this opportunity because of her. You've been working tirelessly and this is your time to shine. Please don't throw it away."
Ivy's pupils dilated. What does she mean by her company went bankrupt and that she had relocated back to California? Does that mean Ryder lied to her once again? But he said her company was just not doing too well at the moment but all the while her company was now owned by another person? He also said she had come for some business and she'd leave soon, but all that was a lie. What more lies did Ryder told her?
"And the news?" Her voice shook.
"You believe that? She paid them to do that just to deceive the public." Lar muttered, her voice firm and truthful.
"And how did you know this Lar?"
"Well.. my cousin is a journalist.. I did some digging.." Lar muttered, a bit reluctant to say it.
Ivy scoffed painfully, dressing her hair backward. She bit her lower lip.
