A HAUNTED COLLEGE (Part 4)

When Mike was leaving the Principal's room, the male detective was entering her office. He stopped and looked at the person and asked the principal " who was he?" She replied, " our store assistant." ( the detective also committed a mistake, he did not check whether his image was reflected in the video at the principal's office, thus they lost the chances of nailing him.)

With tight security and God's grace every thing remained normal for a pretty long time. The things brightened up and the management heaved a sigh of relief. Then some thing happened which was beyond anybody's

Imagination.

A security guard was on duty. He was as usual patrolling the college at night. As he approached the library, he was attacked by someone from behind, he struggled with the attacker but finally he dropped dead on the passage to the library.

He had clear evidence that he had fought with the man as his uniform was torn at several, places, his wrist watch was broken, his mobile was completely broken and was lying at a distance. One of his shoes came out of his foot. Next day when his body was found, every body felt sad that despite being robust and young only 35 years, the man could not save himself. He was killed brutally. His head was twisted back

It came as a great setback for the security agency. The other staff members were struck with fear of patrolling alone. Finally they all declined to continue their service.

Again the management bogged down in a fresh and deep crisis. The management, though a bit late, realized that under the present circumstances the college will not be able to function even a single day without them.

They were getting ready to cancel their agreement with the college.The management could never anticipate such a crisis. The main problem which they faced was that even if they go for a new security agency, it will take time for them to familiarize with the system and most importantly the problems being faced by them. So that was out of the question. And secondly the management was also very happy with their service and sincerity of each guard.

Hence, the Princopal and the Director sat with them and somehow convinced them to continue. The police also gave them certain tips for self protection. However, in view of hidden danger they introduced the system of joint patrolling with two or three guards.

Luckily the parents did not react as it did not involve the life of any student, but they expressed their anguish that the threat still exists and that the management has not yet been able to neutralize it. However, the students continued to come to the college uninterrupted.

On the other hand the land lord of Mike waited for some more time and finally when he found that there was no response from his tenant he evicted him from his house and recovered his dues by selling his house hold goods. It must be mentioned here that Mike was unmarried and he used to stay alone in the room.

But Mike continued to come to the college regularly like any other staff.

A junior girl student of the college used to read ghost books and also learned a bit about paranormal science. She also had purchased some books related to that, it was simply her passion. She read in the book that the ghosts don't produce any shadow like normal human beings when they stand in the Sun, and to her surprise she observed that Mike also did not produce any shadow when he was exposed to the Sun. She observed it not once or twice but several times.

She even compared it with other staff and could find their shadows when exposed to the Sun. She, therefore, found Mike's case very interesting and immensely surprising for her. She kept telling her friends about it but every body laughed it off and said that it was nothing but a figment of imagination.

They argued with her how does she tell every body to believe that Mike is dead when they can see him among them, moving and working." Is it right and logical to believe that a man is dead when he is still alive?"They asked her. They jokingly warned her not to turn a person who is alive into a ghost on the basis of his shadow.

But the girl was undaunted, she was very convinced about what she had found in the book, she knew that it could not be fake or false. She, therefore, wrote a personal letter to the principal explaining her findings.

The principal was under sever pressure, therefore, she had no time to read a personal letter from a junior student, but she kept the letter with her. However, once she was going to her house in her car and it was being driven by the college driver, therefore, she had some time, she opened tthe letter and read it. She did not find it important.

Next day she came to the college, and not to discourage or dishearten any student she called her and asked what type of story book it was from which she had learned it. She said," Madam, an ordinary ghost novel." The principal said," these are ordinary story books, written by story writers, these information are not based on any scientific research, therefore, what you are saying will not be accepted by the authority, ok."

But she was not a girl to accept the principal's explanation so easily, she very politely argued that she had seen the similar statement in several other books and that she has been reading the books for several years.

Before leaving the chamber, she gave the principal one more information that made the principal very alert. She said,"Madam, even the spirits are not reflected in the video, you check madam you will not get his image in the video."

The principal listened to her carefully and kept the letter before her on the table and assured her that she would think about the matter and smiled at her. The girl said," Ok, Madam, I will go now , I have taken much of your valuable time, I am awafully sorry," she smiled and left the chamber.

Without wasting time, she called the male police detective and asked him whether it was true that the spirits are not reflected in the videos. The detective Confirmd it. The principal then asked the detective to check all the videos and see whether the image of Mike is reflected there or not immediately.

He said ," I did not check before because there is no question of the involment of any staff here in any murder case." The principal requested to see that and said," we should not take any chances." So, the police man+ left the chamber and proceeded to check the videos.

On the other hand, the store inchcharge called the newly appointed store assistant and asked him to open the new store room and shift the new materials from the old store room and stock into the new store.

The new store room had been built 2 months ago and had need been lying unused since then. The incharge decided to inaugurate the room that day. She handed over the keys of the old store room to the new Assistant.

Mike was absent on that day. So she asked him to do it alone that day and take the help of Mike when he would come next day.

The assistant opened the old store, immediately a foul smell greeted him. The smell was so foul that he had to cover his nose with his handkerchief.

He was virtually perplexed as to why such a smell in the store room..

He entered and proceeded and was dumbfounded to see the rotten body of his colleague Mike lying there. Some flesh was still sticking to his bones, his face was intact which showed the unbearable pains and difficulties he had to go through all these days he was confined in the room.

He immediately came out, ran to his incharge madam to give the infirmation. When she was finally informed she just gaped at him in shock and surprise.

She immediately ran to see for herself and fell unconscious after seeing the corpse lying there, Finally every body was informed, and the principal also came, stood there silently. She had nothing to say, she became totally speechless at this gruesome murder of one of their hard working and honest staff members.

The detective also came at that time to meet the madam and inform that he could not find any reflection of Mike any where ,which proved beyond doubt that Mike was the spirit which carried out all the gruesome murders in the college.

The principal asked him to enter the store and see for himself. He was shocked to see the man lying there lifeless. He could not understand how such a cruel murder occurred and who was responsible for that.

while removing the body they found a white paper written by Mike lying under his back. He wrote," my spirit may be revenge full, it is quite natural, but don't blame the store madam for my death. She is very kind and harmless."

The police recovered the body for post mortem and reported that the death was due to starvation. After becoming alright the store incharge said to the principal," I am fully responsible for his brutal death, Please send me to prison, show me no mercy, there I will pray for the peace of his soul," saying this she started crying. The principal held her with her hands.

There,of course , was no case against the store Madam because the victim himself pardoned her. Naturally it became a breaking news next day. Every body in the town came to know of the college incidents.

After three days the principal called for a parents' meeting . In addressing the audience she said," Sir you know that our problem has been solved. By mistake we killed our own staff, it was indeed a very costly but pathetic mistake. I pray for the peace of the departed Soul. I am happy to say that there is no threat to your children now. They are absolutely safe and that is giving me the greatest happiness even though I am very sad internally."

She then called the girl to the stage who had given her a letter and explained her the easiest way to detect a spirit or a ghost. She held the girl by her hands and said ," this little girl showed us the ways of detecting a spirit or what we call a ghost, in the simplest way. She learned it by reading books. I appreciate her from the bottom of my heart. We are proud of her. The college has decided to give her a gift sometime later for helping us with her intelligence. She kissed her and asked her to go.

Lastly she said," to conclude I would like to say that due to this unhappy accident, three lives have been lost, there has been an immense destruction of our property.

And when we all were at the comfort of our home during the vacation, the store assistant was dying slowly of starvation, I cannot imagine the pain and suffering he went through during the days he was confined.

I take the full responsibility for all these, I consider that I am not fit to continue as the principal ,hence, I am resigning from my post with immediate effect. Thank you very much for your cooperation all these years, thanks again." The meeting ended, there was no sound from the parents, they left the place silently but utterly stunned.
