#1 Always dress classy and expensive: men always want a woman that they can show off to their friends. But, again, it was an ego thing. They loved expensive women so they could show off their wealth and not feel intimidated or inferior to them.
Chloe put on her blond wig; she had noticed that men tend to find blond girls more attractive and easier to manipulate. It is easy to make your opponent believe they have the upper hand in this game. She wore a turtle-neck black slit dress with red lipstick. Her hair was tied in a bun.
Senator Jacobs had invited her to a charity ball. He was a sleazy old man who could not keep his hands to himself. She had played this game too long with him, so she intended to end everything this night.
She put on her black heels and held her gold purse in her hand, a gift from one of her many suitors, as she ordered an Uber to the venue.
When she stepped into the halls, all eyes were on her. Chloe knew she was beautiful. It had been her downfall once at a certain time, but now, it was her strength.
Senator Jacobs walked up to her as soon as he spotted her. He placed his flimsy hand on her waist and pecked her cheeks. She gave a fake smile.
"Not in public, Senator. What will your wife say?"
"I don't care. You look so beautiful tonight, Cassandra. I can't wait to have you tonight."
Not in a million chances, she thought.
"Alright," she leaned in his ears.
"But you have not sent me the money for the bag I ordered, Senator," Chloe said, smiling at the Senator.
He grumbled as he replied, "you know I am running for the governor in this year's election."
"Are you saying I should wait till next year, Senator?"
"I mean"
She interrupted him with a smile. "If that is what you wish, but I don't think I would make it to the hotel later this evening, you see, I suddenly am not feeling too well."
"Wait," he grabbed her hand.
"I will send you the money for the bag" she smiled and gave him a peek.
"Thank you I will be at the bar if you need me," she waved before leaving him.
She ordered a Martini; she slowly took her drink as she surveyed the area. Her eyes caught notice of a Stuart Hughes Diamond edition suit; she looked up to see the man's face. She couldn't tell if the man or the suit was more expensive, but she could tell it was a face worth billions.
His eyes were as clear as crystal, with his chiseled jawline and soft peach lips.
She imagined how it would feel to run her hands through his dark hair.
He turned in her direction like he had sensed someone spying on him; she felt a jolt of spark flow through her body with his gaze.
She pulled away from him. She would not break her no 1 rule, don't associate with a man you are attracted to. It will be hard to leave when you are supposed to.
"You know Logan Ford" the bartender who had observed their interaction asked. She sipped her drink.
"No"
"He is like the richest man in this very room. I heard he stays in Seattle but is only here for a business deal," the bartender prattle. Chloe took one look at him and their eyes connected instantly. But, unfortunately, he was still watching her; She twisted to face the bartender again.
For Logan, he has had his fair share of women, but there was something about the lady in a black dress that called him. He preferred his women brunette to blond, yet he could not stop staring at her when she entered the hall or when Senator Jacobs had given her a peek on her cheek.
Jealousy over a woman he did not know surged through his body, but by observing their movement from afar, he had deemed her a gold digger. He had seen her kind a lot but none as sophisticated and poise as her. He knew soon he would forget her after all. His best friend and father warned him about women like her.
#2. Always leave room for escape: let them break off the engagement by themselves; that way, there is no bad blood.
"I am so sorry, Cassandra. my wife found out about us. She said she would tell her father to cut off the campaign if I don't break it off with you," he said later that night after the Charity ball had ended.
"I understand, Senator," Chloe replied, sounding disappointed and heartbroken.
"I will still send you the money for the bag," he said, feeling guilt
"Thank you, sir, you are so generous. The people will be happy to have you as their Governor."
She lied, stroking his ego. She won't tell the Senator that she had been the one to send the photos to his wife before coming for the charity ball or that she had planned everything from the beginning.
He would never know, but she was done with this city, and it was time to move on to the next target.
She ended the call with the Senator before crashing on her bed. Her thought still wandered to Logan Ford even as she looked through her phone to search for pictures of him. She had fallen off to sleep, with his face being the last thing she saw.
