#13. One word, competition: Men love competition, and they love when you are the trophy that they have that other men don’t have. It’s good for them to know that you are a diamond everyone wants but can’t have.
Chloe had left the gym after her set. Unfortunately, she wasn’t aware that was a gym Logan goes to. In fact, Chloe had realized that she had not done extensive research on Logan Ford, which was an error on her part.
Chloe sat on a lounge chair in her room with her robe. She dialed a familiar number.
“Mamacita!”
“Shut it, Allen” Chloe dismissed him
“I haven’t heard from you since the stone age.”
“I need you to find out everything you know about Logan Ford,” Chloe asked the man on the phone.
“Another rich man about to fall for your charms”
“Do it soon” Chloe ended the call before Allen could say any more.
She sighed deeply. Closing her eyes and Logan’s face comes to her thought. Chloe needed to complete what she came for before she fell for her sarcastic boss.
“You look lovely, Miss Martini.”
That was the first thing Logan said when he saw Chloe, and the days after came with a different compliment.
“And you have a meeting with Damien Cavados at 1pm.”
Logan groused.
“Can we cancel?”
“You did twice,” Chloe reminded him.
“f**k it”
Chloe turned off her iPad and looked at Logan for more instruction.
“You’re beautiful, Miss Martini.”
Chloe pushed her eyeglasses up. So many men had complimented her, mostly for their ulterior motives, that she had heard the word a thousand times and was unaffected by it. But yet there was an allure to him that made Chloe want to listen to those words repeatedly.
“Thank you, Sir. If that is all, I will be going.”
Chloe flees from Logan. Why had he said that, Logan asked himself? It was a thought said out loud.
He placed his hand on his face.
Chloe.
Chloe.
A name that rings in his head every day.
They arrived at the hotel by 1pm, even though the meeting was scheduled for 1pm. They held the meeting at the conference hall of the hotel.
Chloe waited outside the conference hall for Logan while he discussed with the hotel manager.
“What did Logan do to have an employer like you?”
Chloe looked up away from her Mini pad. She was staring at a handsome man in a suit. There were two other men behind him, but
he was on another level. This man must be Damien, Chloe thought.
“Good afternoon. The meeting is going to be held inside.” Chloe pointed out the door at her back.
“I guess that bastard is not inside, always making me wait” Damien faked a smile.
“Please reframe from using such words in this meeting.”
Chloe goes back to her iPad to reply to Logan’s email.
Damien laughed at her words.
“I like this girl. I can pay you more than Ford can. Come work for me.”
Chloe stared at him.
“What do you want?” He asked her.
“I want the Louis Vuitton Kusama Pumpkin Minaudiere Jewel bag, the Stuart Weitzman Cinderella slippers, and the Diamond dream stilettos, a dress made by Daniel Roseberry. This is something my boss can give without his account suffering a loss.”
Chloe smiled sweetly.
“Stop trying to steal my assistant from me.”
Logan said. Chloe didn’t see him when he arrived, or how long he had been there.
Chloe composed herself.
“Gentlemen, shall we proceed with the meeting?”
#14. Manipulate, not demand: The idea is not to demand but simply persuade, or a more harsh term is to manipulate. To manipulate someone into giving you what you want.
The meeting went smoothly, only with Logan and Damien exchanging foul words. It was clear the rivalry between these two men dated back ages.
All Chloe could think of was to get home and have a warm bath.
It surprised Chloe when she saw Logan drive opposite direction to where the office was.
He stopped at a Louis Vuitton shop. Logan opened the door for her, a courtesy he never fails to show.
Logan entered.
He snapped his finger.
“Get me a Kusama Pumpkin Minaudiere Jewel bag and any other bag worth buying.”
Logan pulled out his black card.
When they were done, he moved to the next shop, fulfilling everything and more that she said to Damien except for the gown designed by Daniel Roseberry.
All goods were to be delivered to her house. She looked at Logan, it was already late in the evening, and they were driving back to work.
“Why did you do that? You know, I was only trying to scare him off.”
While that might have been true for Chloe, those were the things she always wanted.
“Because I have the money.”
A simple statement.
“Thank you,” Chloe murmured.
The drive after that was silent, and Chloe loved the way the building lit up like stars. It was something she enjoyed about big cities.
And by the time the ride was over, Logan was looking at her in a certain way.
He said nothing to her, only gazing into her eyes like they held the secrets to his heart, and it did. Logan admired her confidence, her cold interior attitude, and he found himself drawn to his assistant.
“Good night, Chloe, before I do something stupid like kiss you.”
Logan faces the front of his car. Chloe was left hurt. She wondered why. Did she really want him to kiss her?
“Good night Logan” She exhaled slowly through her pursed lip
Chloe stepped out of his car. Logan sinks deep into his car, happy to hear his name come out of her lips.
