Chapter 53

1926 Words

Nara's POV The next morning came way too fast for my liking. Sleep? Nonexistent. My mind had been rolling like a broken washing machine all night — spinning through every possible scenario. One minute I was imagining myself sitting on a huge leather chair with my name boldly engraved on a plaque, and the next, I was picturing Jane choking on her salad the moment she hears I’m getting a position in the company. Delicious. When the sun finally dragged itself into the sky, I was already up. Not because I’m disciplined or anything dramatic like that — nope. It was pure nerves. My stomach was in knots, my palms clammy. Thank God I had no cases at the firm today because there's no way I’d be able to focus on contracts and clauses with this kind of chaos pending. Breakfast was awkward as hell.
