I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning — or more accurately, the wrong side of the floor.
No one’s gonna convince me I “rolled off” the bed. No. Nara pushed me. She can deny it, make those innocent wide eyes, pretend she was fast asleep — but I know the truth. Since I was born, Nick Gold doesn’t fall off beds. Gravity respects me. Which means Nara betrayed me.
The pain… oh man, the pain. My body was a warzone. Every bone ached. My left shoulder felt like someone had tried to rip it clean off in my sleep. My right leg? Limping like an old pirate. And my neck? Forget it. Couldn’t turn it left or right. Could barely nod. Felt like someone had stuffed a rusted iron rod down my spine.
