CHAPTER 7

1747 Words
I could barely even get much sleep considering how excited I was the whole entire night. Granted, the next morning, I was up like a light bulb, happy and exuding the excitement of a five year old as I day dreamed about what it would have been like for me to now have a real job. This was everything to me and more, and I was going to make sure that I would make the best of every part of it. "And, someday, I would also get to leave this dump," I scoffed with one look the dump that was my room. One little movement of me on my bed and I was already hearing the creakiness of the bed, and I frowned at that. Anyways, it was only a matter of time before things were going to change for me and I could not even begin to elaborate how glad that made me. Quinn was over at the apartment earlier than I expected and she seemed to even be more happy than I was as a matter of fact. My best friend had walked in here, happy as a bird, and squealing to me in excitement, showing me with praises in her sing song voice and easily, one could have thought that I had won a trip to Hawaii and a lottery to add. This meant so much for me, that's all. I could not even begin to explain how it made me feel, but I was beyond happy about this. "I am so happy for you!" Quinn was squealing over and over and anyone could have thought that she was the one getting a job at a company and not me, but it was thee sweetest thing to see my best friend this happy about a progress that was not even hers. Meanwhile, I was not even sure what made me happier, the fact that I had finally made it in life or the fact that I was going to have another chance to see Michael again. I mean, I knew there was every possibility that he would not even bat an eyelid at me, but I would appreciate even looking at such a beauty even if it were from a distance. "Girl, you look so pretty!" Quinn squealed in excitement when she saw me step out in the new clothes that I had set out for my work wear. I was dressed in a format attire with a nice looking turtle neck shirt and a skirt that hung just a little tab bit above my knee, jet black in colour, and body con. My hair was done up in a neat up do, like a bun, and I had a little make up done. Basically as little as eyeliner and a touch of red lipgloss. I mean, I wanted to appear stunning, but natural. However, Quinn found anything on me to hype me up. "And girl, look at those hips!" Quinn would not stop hyping me. The woman was my highest fan. She never seemed to tire out from throwing all sorts of praises to my face and I loved her so much for all the unconditional support she was so generous with. I looked at myself from head to toe, and smiled in satisfaction. I wish I had a mirror to have a thorough look, but I guess this would have done. I looked myself up from head to toe and I nodded in satisfaction at what I saw. I did not look half had, and as Quinn had made it clear, screaming and hyping all the way, I could see that my curves were bold and daring. One thing I know is that I was blessed with a curvy body Andi did not need a mirror to show me that they were presenting themselves at their best this time around. A little smile tugged at my face when I thought about the possibility of Michael McAllister giving me a second look. Quickly, I had to bring myself back in check. I was going to Ciel to Work and not to flirt with a billionaire. I had to get my priorities straight. "We need to get going, so you won't be late for your first day!" Quinn said and I couldn't agree more with her. "f**k yes, baby!" I screamed back , giving my best friend just as much energy as she was giving me and we were jumping and holding hands as we rushed out of my dump apartment. This was it, I thought. This was everything that I had ever wanted. And more. ***** Just like the other day, the building of Ciel greeted me with its magnificence and glory. However, this time around, things were different. As I made my way in through the large luxurious building of glass and bricks, I was filled with more of joy than nervousness. Yes, I did feel nervous in the slightest, but unlike yesterday, it was not the type of nervousness that made me shake in fear or panic, but this time around, it was more of a thrill. A hard anticipation. And I couldn't wait! The colour reception was somewhat busy and through the few number of people who walked in and walked out, not paying me any mind, I figured that once again, like the other day, I was also an hour earlier. My work was scheduled to start by 9:30am, and looking at the clock, it was barely even 8am yet. "Rachel Kelly and doing the most," I silently jabbed myself with a little shake of my head before I went to meet the woman at the reception counter. The same woman from the other day too, and quickly, she had recognized me. I mentally commended her sharp recognition skills and with a bright smile on my face, I greeted her warmly. "Good morning," I said. The lady smiled at me warmly and was quick to reciprocate a polite greeting back to me. "Good morning," She said. "May I help you?" "I got a job here in Ciel," I explained to her, "And this is my first day. I need some assistance, please." Her blue eyes had lit up with a glint on hearing me say that and she picked up the telephone on her desk, starting a call in front of me. "I will just call up someone that will help you settle in," She said to me and I wondered if she was always this nice to everyone, "So, give me a second. Richard will be here in—" "No need for that." We, both me and this reception woman stopped abruptly at the sound of the new voice that cut into our conversation without a warning. That voice sounded familiar. Too familiar. It gave me the same sweet tingly feeling as at the very first time I had heard it before and I did not need anyone to tell me who it was, neither did I even have to turn back and confirm for myself, because I already knew at once. "Oh," The reception woman had her smile robbed off her and reached with caution as she took a stance of respect and a bit of fear, "Mr. McAllister. Good morning, sir." It was like the entire reception took that same behaviour too. The sudden carefulness and cautiousness and it took me a second to understand that as a matter of fact, this man had them wrapped around his finger tips. I mean, he was their CEO for one. The man was their f*****g boss. He owned these people. "I will take it from here," I heard him speak again, and that was when I turned back around to face him, t watch him as he walked his way down towards me and kid you not, I thought I was dying. That was what it felt like. My hands felt sweaty and my heart beat faster, but that was only natural. But why did it feel like my head and body were literally on fire and why did it see like each step that he took closer, the whole world was closing in. But in a good way. I watched the man in his stylish grey suit take strides towards me in all his regality and glory and I couldn't stop to admire the class that was this man. He looked so neat, so good, so stylish. He looked even more handsome than he did the other day, and that was an unbelievable feat for me. It was completely unbelievable. "Miss Rachel Kelly," He addressed me formally, and even if I had swooned over his deep voice, beautiful pale skin, red full lips and brown eyes, I forced myself to keep my composure and feign disinterest. "Sir?" I answered him. Made sure to stand with a straight spine and look up to him in confidence. I had to make him think I was a woman who what she was doing. Fake it till you make it, that was my motto for Ciel. "Follow me." He ordered. And I obeyed without an argument. I loved how formal he was even after how our encounter went; the man knew how to keep his composure and how to look the part of a man in control. My God, was it sexy! I walked behind Michael McAllister as he took me to a destination that I was not sure of. Whether this was part of protocol, I had no idea. But I walked with him without an argument and through the walk, from start to finish, there was a silence between us. He may have given me a second glance, but I got to come to the understanding that he was going to keep being formal like this. I mean, he is the CEO and he has half the women in the country swooning over him and over a hundred people, depending on the salary that he gave them. I couldn't have expected more from him. One quick push and he opened the door of his office, stood there, and directed a gaze to me that melted my soul in an instant. "After you," He said to me. For the first time since he brought me here, he actually smiled. There were fireworks exploding within me and there and then, I knew it, I knew it that this was going to be the most memorable experience of my lifetime yet.
