Annalee’s wide eyes looked at me in surprise with lips slightly parted. Her gaze passes through me and looks at Martha as if she was asking for the truth, as if my words are and will never be enough to confirm my words. As I let out a sigh, keeping my head down, I caught Martha nodding her head slowly.
I couldn’t blame it on anyone, especially Annalee. All this time, the only thing she knows is that Zach is purely just a boss to me with not even any movement on my side to actually get closer to him. We often are present in the events hosted by Zach or his family, like his birthday and Harriet’s brand launch, but she probably sees it as just for work purposes and nothing more.
Our past is purely unknown to her, so I understand why she ended up acting this way.
