Chapter 14: The Motel at the End of the World The rain had not stopped. It pounded against the roof of the stolen sports car like a thousand tiny hammers trying to break in. I had been driving for four hours. My hands were cramping on the leather steering wheel. My eyes burned from staring into the darkness of the highway. Every pair of headlights in the rearview mirror made my heart stop. I expected to see Kaelen’s black SUV bearing down on me.
