Aura pulled out of Judy’s grip. “I want to know what is going on.” Turning, she looked outside, seeing Colin and Riley standing together on the verandah, Feud no longer in sight. “Where did he go?” Then it struck her. “I have to go. My mum is next door. And my aunt.” The screen door banged shut behind her as she headed for the stairs.
Riley stepped in front of her, preventing her from leaving. “It isn’t safe out there. Not yet.”
She couldn’t draw her gaze from the sword he held. “What is going on? And who are you?”
“I’ve already told you. Riley Hunter.”
“That tells me nothing.” She glared at him.
Riley grinned. “It actually tells you more than you realise.”
