MACKENZIE I pulled the covers from my face, stretching my arms and legs while still lying in bed. Turning to my right, I saw the window and, feeling the warmth of the room, got up to push the curtains aside. The view outside greeted me- a mountain scene bathed in sunlight. It was already noon, not morning, as the sun was high in the sky, and the leaves on the trees swayed gently in the breeze. I opened the window to take in the fresh air, but instantly regretted it as the cold hit my bare face and body, a reminder of the chill from the previous night. Shivering, I quickly shut the window and left the curtains drawn to the sides.
