“They’re aphrodisiacs.” Pascal said, laughing lightly when he saw Avery’s eyebrows lift so high they nearly disappeared into her hairline. “What? Did you think I was joking when I said those chocolates were strong aphrodisiacs?” “Yes! I thought you were just trying to put me off buying them.” Avery sputtered. “Well, I was trying to put you off, but I didn’t lie about their effect. I just didn’t think a woman like you really needed them.” Pascal said, shrugging. “You didn’t really strike me as the desperate kind.” “Haha..ha...yeah. Definitely not the desperate kind at all.” It was Avery’s turn to avert her gaze, as she tried in vain not to let bitterness creep into her tone. She only ended up travelling back in time because she was depressed about failing to win the attentions of a man
