The lost key

219 Words
Mary and John were on a vacation in a small town in Italy. One evening, as they returned to their hotel room after dinner, they realized the key to their room was missing. Mary: John! Where’s the key? Did you forget it at the restaurant? John: No, I remember putting it back into my pocket. Mary: Oh no, we can’t get in without it. What now? John: Let me ask the receptionist if they have a spare key. At the reception desk, John explained their predicament to the receptionist. Receptionist: I’m sorry sir, but we do not keep spare keys for security reasons. We’ll have to call for a locksmith to open your door. John took out his phone and started searching for a locksmith nearby. After a few minutes he found one and called him. Locksmith: Yes sir, how can I help you? John explained his situation to the locksmith over the phone. Locksmith: No problem sir, I’ll be there in 15 minutes. Within 15 minutes, the locksmith arrived and unlocked their door. Mary and John were relieved to finally get into their room and rest for the night. Mary (sighing with relief): Thank god! That was such an ordeal. We should be extra careful with our belongings from now on. John (nodding his head): Yes dear, definitely.
