As the sun started to rise, Tiffany started packing everything from her bag into Henery's, put a couple of medicines and food in her bag and grabbed her rifle. Tiffany knew that Henery was going to want to go home, but she wasn't ready. Her entire life other people had been running her life, but it was valentary. Tiffany liked being at other people's will. Deep down inside she knew she was a weapon; with enough time she could do anything and she knew that and she also knew everyone else knew that. This time around, Tiffany wanted to run the world, but without people knowing. She didn't wanna be stared at, she just wanted to find her way. She knew it would have to be alone.
The second the sunlight hit the window pane she kissed Henry on the forehead and pulled the bell from the top of the door and left. There weren't many cars on the road, but there had been a small pickup truck down the road. She walked toward it with ease. Pulling the wires, she started the truck and folded them together. She closed the door and took a deep breath. She knew Henry would go home and wait for her, and one day she would come home to him and she would know her way.
Tiffany drove steadily down to school. She had a feeling there would be people there. They can't stay there forever, and a world like this could change people; especially the easily influenced, like children. As she reached the school, she could see the chaos. There were a few cars that had been flipped, there had to be people inside though. She couldn't stop thinking about the monsters that were hitting the windows of the school. The doors had been locked. She stopped the truck, and stared at the building. First she had to get into the high school and get kids like her, maybe teachers that were willing to fight and help the other kids in the other schools. As she looked at the building she could see a latter on the side of the building that all of the schools had in case of safety repairs.
The monsters were gathered by the doors away from the side of the building. She took a deep breath and grabbed her empty bag and her rifle, as she stepped out of the truck she started to run toward the side of the building using the tree line. As she did so, all she could think about was the fact that there had to be people inside, otherwise the monsters wouldn't be at the door. Or as Henry liked to call them, Lurkers.
As Tiffany reached the latter she pushed her rifle to her back and started climbing up the latter, hoping that the Lurkers couldn't climb too. When she reached the top of the latter, to the roof, she could see the door leading to the indoor latter that lead to the maintenance closet, without a second thought she started running toward the door. As she grabbed the handle and pulled it stayed sealed shut, with that she let out a blissful sigh. Tiffany reached for her rifle and gripped it as she hit the handle, cursing herself for putting her tools in Henry's bag. Suddenly, and quit eruptly, the handle let out a clink and fell to the ground. Tiffany smiled and reached into the hole that was now in the door and pulled it open.
Grappling her rifle onto her back, she started to climb down the next latter into the high school. As she reached the bottom to the tiled floor, she looked around. The halls were quiet and most of the windows were covered. One door at a time, she told herself. Tiffany started at the end of the hall and knocked on the window. As she did, the sound of her knocks echoed down the hallway. She knew when it all started it was the start of the work day, so there wouldn't be a lot of students or teachers for that matter. That had actually marked off elementary school since they started later. She took a deep breath and broke the window with her rifle and opened the door. As she walked in she saw kids her age gathered in the corner and the teacher was lying dead in the middle of the room. It looked like her head had been smashed in by the textbook lying next to her. "What happened here?" they all looked at each other in silence. She knew most of them from when she was in school, but never had she seen any of them shake or be filled with fear like this. "She turned. Didn't she?" some of the girls started to burst out in tears as she said that and one of the boys just nodded silently.
Tiffany gripped her rifle and looked around the room. There had been a broom in the corner. She grabbed it and broke the brissles off with one swift kick and threw it on the floor, "If you can fight, come with me. If not, I need you to check rooms. No one is coming to help. If you've been in town you would understand. We have to move though, I have a plan. However, I'll need help in order for us to live." Everyone looked around for a minute as Tiffany walked out of the room and toward the maintenance closet. Grabbing mops and brooms and breaking the ends off.
In the room, the teenagers looked at each other. Some mumbled to each other, others were still trying to call their parents. Suddenly, a boy with curls and caramel for skin stood up and grabbed the broken broom. Not long after, other athletes and even some of the weight lifters, girls and boys, started walking out of the room to follow Tiffany. The others started grabbing textbooks and going door to door relaying the message. As far as anyone could tell, the school was almost untouched other than a few teachers. There were maybe fifty students all together, most of whom had driven cars of their own to school the day it all started.
