“This affected everything from the rights of the workers to the rights of transgender individuals as well as the right of women to have abortions, to choose what we wanted to do with our own bodies. All political choices were governed by the attitudes of the business entities with the most wealth, and this created a mostly neoliberal environment where personal choice and luxury was an illusion in the face of wealth. There was a tremendous wealth gap between the poor and the affluent, and, as our people became more educated and proficient as a population, enough common laborers came together and decided that the population, as a whole, was strong enough to change the very face of our government.”
