Chapter fourteen - I will always be by your side

Blake's POV:

I was so close to killing this i***t, but Skyler stopped me. Both of us ran away. This is not over. He will see. I won't let him mess with my friend. We might know each other for only a month, but this doesn’t mean that I won't save her. After all, she did a lot for me. I don't know who this boy is, but I swear that the next time I won't let him go that easy. From now on, he has to deal with me. No boy should treat a girl like that. Yes, I was bad with Skyler, but never tried to do something to her. Otherwise, her dad was going to kill me. I don't know why she didn't tell them. It's visible that they were going to do something. Maybe this is what she wants. To keep her parents out of this. It's not of my business, but I still think that they should know about this. After all, they are her parents. I don't know what her father is capable of, but I prefer to not know. Whatever he has done at my age, I am sure that he is a different person now. It's visible that he cares for his family, especially for the girls. Maybe something has happened and this is why he is so protective. The thing is that I started doing this as well. I have no idea why I do it, but I feel angry when someone treats Skyler so badly. She hasn't done anything to anyone. I know that there is the typical school drama, but this is too much. I hope that soon it will stop.

I woke up in the morning and looked at my phone. It was 7 am. I wanted to call Skyler, but I don't know is she awake. I don't want to wake her. Well, I can go and see her, but I don't want to look like I can't stay away from her. I won't lie that I would love to hear what her dad was doing at my age, but I guess that I have to read the book. To be honest, I prefer if he tells me the story. Once he told me that Skyler looks a lot like her mom so it will be interesting for me to know what her mom was like when she was a teenager. Maybe I can go and ask. I don't think that they will deny answering me. Well, I hope so.

Finally, I decided to get out of bed. I went to get ready and later walked downstairs for breakfast. I looked around but didn't see my parents. Then I found a note on the kitchen table. It said that they have work and have to go early. In that case, I will eat my breakfast alone. Today I decide to stay all the time with Skyler in case something happens again. Let's hope that it won't.

After my breakfast, I walked to school and saw Skyler in front of her locker as usual. I walked up to her and she gave me a smile, which I returned.

- Hey, what are your plans for the day?

- I don't have ones or at least for now. Actually, mom was planning to take me out but never said when. If you want, after school, you can come with me. If I go out, you can keep my dad good company. It's visible that he likes you.

- I won't lie that I would love to. It looks like your dad understands me.

- The only thing that I will say is that you two are not that different.

- What do you mean?

- Exactly what you are thinking. Let's go now. I don't want to be late.

Both with Skyler walked to class. We sat together as usual. Nicky and his girlfriend were here as well. I ignored them and turned my attention to my friend. On the breaks, we tried to avoid them as much as possible. I have to say that they called us names when we walked by their table during lunch, but we pretended like we didn't hear them. I won't let them win. What we can do is ignore them and pretend that these two don't exist.

Apart from that, our school day was normal. Well, until the lunch break. I feel like they want us to notice them. Why do these two always want attention? I feel like they are here only to cause drama. Like we don't have enough. We are in our last class and I swear that they don't take their eyes from us. Skyler and I are not that interesting. Moreover, we don't do anything, which might attract attention. I feel that they will do something, but I hope that I am wrong.

After our last class, Skyler and I went to take our things. We were about to go when Nicky and Missy called us. Both of us ignored them and continued walking until we walked in front of the school. They stopped us and made us look at them. How much I want to delete the smirk from his face.

- Ignoring us won't help you. - Nicky said

- As long as it keeps me away from you, I will do it. - I said

It looks like soon we'll kill each other. I don't mind, but I don't know how Skyler will react to that. I don't want to miss her with these things. Moreover, I don't think that her parents will let this type of boy be around their daughter.

With that, his dad's face changed. So it's true. Mister Wright has done all of these things to Nicky's dad. That's interesting. Now I definitely want to know what he was doing at my age. I noticed how Nicky looked at his dad, but he didn't say anything.

- Dad, for what this person is talking about? It's not true, right?

- To understand that you didn't tell him. Kid, I think that you need to ask your dad what he was doing when he was young. Unlike him, I have told my kids everything. I might have done horrible things, but at least I tried to change.

- Dad, is there something that I should know?

- No, don't trust him. He is lying to you.

- Typical Ricky. I gladly would continue this conversation, but I have more important things to do than bring old drama. By the way, Lindsay, you look good today.

Just like that, the three of us walked away. I have no idea where we are going, but I am getting excited. Well, I have to hide it, because there is no way that Skyler will let me understand everything just like that. All of us walked to their house. Mike and Skyler's mom was there.

Mike went into his room to study. He said that when he finished, he would call me to play video games with him. Only mister Wright and I left. I want to ask him, but I don't know will he answer me. I have no idea how this got me, but he said that we are not that different. Skyler said the same and I want to know why.

- Boy, are you ok? You look excited about something. - he chuckled

- I want to ask something, but I don't know will you answer me.

We had to hide because her friends and the whole school were against me. They found out when I took Chloe on our first date. Her friends left her and the school was against her. After some time, her friends came back to her. I have to say that I put her in a lot of trouble, but her parents never seemed to mind. Since I know her, Chloe is very sensitive. I don't know why, but she gets upset when someone is hurt. Especially if this person is someone for who she cares. That's why I said that Skyler looks like her mom. Taking care of you proved it. Chloe was cleaning my scars after every fight, which I had. I tried to avoid them and stay clean because I know that this was upsetting her. After high school, I changed completely and forgot about my old self. I had a mission and it was to make her happy and save. I'm not sure how good job I was doing, but since she is still here, I must have done something right. - he said chuckling at the end

- I got excited when I saw you talking with Nicky's dad. Did you really fight with him?

- Yes, I did, but thanks to Chloe, I didn't kill him. Back then, we weren't dating, but she was caring for me a lot more than for a friend. She was exactly what I needed. Just like Skyler.

- I think that you know.

- We are just friends.

- For now. I don't want to say anything, because many things can happen, but from what I see it looks like soon your friendship will end and it will end for good.

- It's better if we keep it friendly for now. Thanks for answering my question.

- I want you to make me a favor. Don't tell Skyler.

- My mouth is shut.

I definitely like this man. He is nice and loves his family for infinity. I have huge respect for him. Maybe one day I can be like him. I would love it if he becomes my teacher. He has been through so many things and I know that he will tell me what mistakes I should avoid.

Mister Wright went to his office and I went to play video games with Mike. The girls came back and now I know why they have been outside. Both of them have talked with my parents and soon we'll have dinner together. It's not like I mind. I like Skyler's parents and I think that mine will like them too. After all, Skyler and I go out very often so maybe it's time for our parents to meet officially. Probably they won't become best friends, but at least we can have dinners or other activities together. I won't think about this now. What I will do is to enjoy the rest of the day with my friend and her family.
