Chapter Four Javvy We fit together so naturally that I couldn’t remember a time when Aura wasn’t in my life. I could kick myself for not having asked her out sooner, but I couldn’t do much about the past. All I could do was look forward to the future, to our future together. I spent more time at her apartment in Milpitas than I did at home, and I was grateful to have an escape from my father. Whenever I did see him, whether I stopped in the sprawling estate for a change of clothes or if he popped into the office, I could feel the tension between us. He didn’t say much to me, as if he considered me a brat for being upset. “Is this a hotel?” he barked at me one evening when I let myself into the mansion. “You come and go as you please?” My eyes narrowed, and I stared at him balefully.
